Which is the best diet and exercise for the abs? There is no best "diet" or "exercise." I am not kidding! I abs-olutely (pardon the pun) do not believe in dieting if it means depriving myself. I believe the word diet means "what you can eat," not what you cannot. When it comes to exercising, I also absolutely do not ever exercise – I hate to! I do, however, eat very healthfully in moderation and I make sure to be active and "re-create" every day. This I love, and it has helped me keep off 150 pounds for almost 16 years. We’ve been taught that doing crunches, or sit-ups will tone-up the abdominal muscles, and that's true. In my experience, working all of my muscles every day tones me up all over, too. It’s true that there is no such thing as "spot reducing" but I know there are ways to tone up specific muscles. I like yoga, especially the Downward Dog and Cat postures, and the Sun Salute. I did a bunch of sit-ups at my wife’s suggestion yesterday, and it felt great. But though I sometimes do focused exercise, I do not have perfect abs. They are not a priority for me. My focus is overall health, general fitness, and staying happy and spiritual. I am sorry if that means I haven't answered your question very well, but I honestly think there are more important things in life than perfect abs. If, abs are a major priority for you – congratulations – your overall life must be in good shape!
