What do you think of New Year’s resolutions for losing weight and making life changes? To be honest, I think it’s always great to resolve to improve your life – whether it’s at the beginning of a new year, or any time. Often, however, the excitement and gumption of a new year’s resolution just doesn’t last because people try to do too much. It’s just not possible to become "perfect" just by intending to do everything at once. A few years ago I resolved to stop resolving. With help from God I began a daily physical, emotional, and spiritual practice and I just keep doing it. Though at first it required a lot of thought & discipline, now it’s simply a good habit to stick with my Joy of Weight Loss food and activity plan. I do my best to be conscious of eating, observing limits of serving sizes, and eating all the food groups. I make sure to dance, or workout, play sports or do yoga for an hour a day. It makes me feel good. It’s my life habit and I love it. After all is said and done, a "new year" is merely an artificial mark on a calendar; a conceptual new cycle of a season. It is truly just another day. But each day is very important and we are very lucky to have a new day everyday. I like to think of each day as a new chance to be the best I can be. Each day is a gift from God, Spirit or Higher Power, and we’re lucky to have it. Happy new year, every day. Happy new you, every day!
