The excess weight did not appear on you overnight! Obesity didn't just present itself in a couple of weeks! Many people, however, expect it to be fixed in a couple of weeks!
Don't worry, you have the rest of your life to be healthy. There's plenty of time to find a normal, reasonable weight for you.
What works is consistently, daily, eating small portions of ordinary food – not bingeing on high fat or high sugar foods. What also works is being moderately, playfully active.
You don't have to do it alone, either. There are people like me, who have lost weight and kept it off, who are more than willing to help. There are tens of thousands of people who read these daily messages; connect with one of them on our message boards.
Most importantly, there's God – always there – always ready to show you the way. Just ask.
One more thing: 1/2 to 2 pounds a week is a safe and sane amount to lose, but no more. There will be some weeks where you may not lose, or might even gain a little. So it's best to only weigh yourself once a month, looking at the overall NET amount of change. Clothing size, too, is a good indicator.
