In my book, "The Joy of Weight Loss", I talk a lot about how to stay satisfied with less food. There’s also a simple way to never go hungry, and eat less, too. The secret is to combine three food groups, always having a little serving of protein (either meat or dairy groups), grains (carbohydrates), and a fruit or vegetable for each meal or snack. That way, with balanced nutrition needs met, you won’t feel hungry. What you’re doing is nourishing your body in a complete way, so it doesn’t always feel the need for something that’s missing. We’ve been trained by the dieting industry to sacrifice foods – and I believe that’s completely the wrong thing to do. We need to be nourished. It doesn’t take a lot, but it does take the right foods. And, best of all when you’re completely feeding your body’s needs, you’ll be eating less than you used to. This does, however, take practice and time to integrate it into your life.
