If I'm in a bad mood and I want to eat too much, what do I do? If it isn't time to eat (according to your food plan) do anything else possible. Call a friend and talk about your mood, and listen to their concerns, too. Go to a support group meeting. Take your dog for a walk. Go for a swim, or a drive. Always ask God for help, then get away from the food you know you don't want to eat. Remember, above all, that if you eat too much you're actually abusing yourself, not "treating" or pleasuring. One thing I learned about bad moods is that they go away. Emotions are short-lived. Give them some time, don't avoid the feelings, and they will dissipate before long. The other thing I learned is that I have some choices: I can go with the bad mood, live in it, see if I can give it a little love and care, and then choose to say "goodbye" to the feelings when it's time. Bad moods don't always need to be salved or cured, especially not with food!
