I am vacationing soon, and it will not be possible to get to the gym. Any ideas? YES! Now is the very best time for recreation, or as I like to say, RE-creation. It’s a joy to re-create yourself anew every day, as each day is a gift from God. A vacation is the very best time, because you have time. This is your opportunity to really do something different, outside of a gym. Why not try some fun activities? Start with a ball and toss it around. A basketball is fun, so is a volleyball, or better yet, a beach ball. Using a ball connects you with fun activity: basketball hoops, volleyball games, luxuriating at the beach or taking a dip in the water. These activities also connect with others. Sharing fun activities is great for everyone involved. This is also an excellent time to develop a daily recreational activity that lifts your spirits. Hiking or speed walking is great--it gets you out into nature. You can do it by yourself or with any number of friends. Plus, it's free! Or, rent a bike (and a helmet, too, please), and go for a nice ride along a scenic route. Another good vacation activity is to take some recreation classes, or go on a group activity. Try some dance classes, a yoga or weight loss retreat (my favorite is Kripalu - where I teach regularly), or be really exotic and sign up to work at a farm or guest ranch out west. When the vacation's over, keep the daily retreat and recreation going, every morning. Treat yourself to some joyful movement.
