A highly successful business executive told me last week that he was going on vacation. I said, "Hey Al, that's great. You are always working so hard, you deserve it. When's the last time you had a vacation?" He told me it has been over five years since he's even had a day off.
I was really glad he was taking a break and asked him where he was going. "We're not going anywhere. We're just staying at home, my wife and I, and our two-year old. We're not going to do one thing. We're just going to relax."
Though it may have taken him 5 years to wise up and take a break, that part of the plan shows he's a wise executive appreciating what he's got, instead of going long distances to find something better.
