Prayer of One Who Is Dying
Creator of life,
I am dying.
I feel the energy of life
slipping away.
The breath you gave me is thin.
The body you gave me is wasted.
The health you gave me is gone.
Forgive me
the hours I have wasted,
the loves I have hurt,
the dreams I have ignored.
Forgive me
my doubts,
my lack of trust,
my fear.
You promised me life;
hold me close forever in your love.
You promised me hope;
sustain me now
in the darkness that overwhelms me
and grant me your peace.
Forget me not, I pray.
Amen.
