Prayers for a Better Year
That in 2002 we may put our fears behind us and move forward into a year filled with peace and security

On Dec. 31, we end a year that many Americans will count among the worst in their lifetimes.

Even those not in New York City or Washington, DC, have been profoundly affected by the attacks on September 11, and all of us continue to struggle with the ramifications.

In addition, over the past year, tens of thousands of individuals lost their jobs and perhaps their savings. Even among the still-employed, economic insecurity and anxiety have risen.

Yet 2001 also offered wonderful examples of the resilience and generosity of the human spirit and should remind us of the values we hold dear: that we can find heroes among ordinary people; that tolerance is a tradition worth guarding; and that family and friends are what help us to continue on with life.

It is our sincere hope that 2002 will be a happy, peaceful year for America and the world.

Please join our prayers for a better year by adding your own below.

O Thou compassionate Lord! Thou Who art generous and able! We are servants of Thine sheltered beneath Thy providence. Cast Thy glance of favor upon us. Give light to our eyes, hearing to our ears and understanding and love to our hearts. Render our souls joyous and happy through Thy glad-tidings. O Lord! Point out to us the pathway of Thy Kingdom and resuscitate all of us through the breaths of the Holy Spirit. Bestow upon us life everlasting and confer upon us never-ending honor. Unify mankind and illumine the world of humanity. May we all follow Thy pathway, long for Thy good-pleasure and seek the mysteries of Thy Kingdom. O God! Unite us and connect our hearts with Thy indissoluble bond. Verily, Thou art the Giver, Thou art the Kind One and Thou art the Almighty!

Happy 2002! This year can only get better. It has only started but already it's more than I can handle. My mother is in jail for a 5th drunk driving and we are missing valuable time together. My mother-in-law has been diagnosed with lung cancer in the 3rd stage. 2 of my dogs have gotten to old and been put to sleep. Last on the list is that I can't get setteled into a good job. I pray for my mother(s) everyday and hand my problems over to God hoping he can help me get through all this. If you are reading this, please add my family to your thoughts and prayers! 2001 brought me my angel. My fiance Matt saved me from the nightmare I had become. Together we help each other get through everyday a little easier. I love that I can share my prayers with others and share in yours too. Peace, Love, & Happiness!
