Shane Whalen
This Prayer Circle is Dedicated to my son Shane Whalen Who Passed Away On March 15, 1999 at the Age of 24, & All Other Children

Start a prayer circle for bereaved parents who have lost a child.

There are many of us out there who have lost a child, and it is devastating. It changes the outlook on life, plunges you into a depression, and you think that the feelings and thoughts you have nobody else could possibly relate to. I think a prayer circle for bereaved parents would only benefit us and help us on our journey of grief. This Circle is one of Love, where a Grieving Parent can safely come to for Prayers, and to talk about their feelings.

Hi Jane, ~ thanks for your kind words about my daughters poem and also for sharing how God blessed you is a very special way. When I think of all the times God has blessed me in some way, I sometimes wonder [now that I am more in tune with my God given revelations] how I missed seeing the importance of those blessings while they were happening. It sometimes saddens me that when I was much younger, I took so many things for granted. Much older and a bit wiser now, I praise Him and thank Him 24/7. I guess that old saying is true: when we learn better, we do better. :)

I have always loved both reading and writing poetry, reading and memorizing long poems especially when I was in grade school. I loved reading poetry and short stories to my kids, so I guess that's how they both developed a love of poetry. I got to thinking of our circle last night and how blessed we are to have it. And suddenly, God's Holy Spirit whispered to me saying as always, "Go write this down!" :)
Love, hugs, & prayers,

Circle of Love
By Verna R. Clay

There’s something wonderful
Going on in our treasured circle of love
And yes we are mighty grateful
It’s been blessed by God above!

There’s something spiritual
Going on in our circle of love …
Where healing is taking place
We can lean on God even when we are angry ...
We are blessed by His saving grace

In our circle we pray without ceasing for others
And we know others pray for us too
Tis with prayer, support, and compassion
That we start each day anew

There’s something rewarding
Going on in our circle of love …
Each time we say a prayer …
We give our burdens to the Lord
And try hard to leave them there

That part is not always easy …
But we know God understands
He pampers us when we are down in the valley ...
And lifts us up again

There’s something joyful going on
In our circle of love
As we share with others each day
It helps to know that we are not alone
Therefore ...Together we pray!

There's something unique about our circle of love ...
That we pray others will never know
The magnitude of the grief and pain ...
As on our endless journey we go

Oft times we smile hiding tears of sadness ...
Freeing others from sensing our pain
We find strength in knowing
We can return to our safe haven ...
Our Circle of Love
Where there is NEVER any judgment ...
And share what we are feeling ...
Again ... and again ... and again!

A big warm group hug for our Angel in Chief for listening and following directions when God whispered in her ear a little over 8 years ago, telling her to start this life-saving circle of love/support/and compassion! :)

(((((BIG GROUP HUG!!!))))) from all of us!!! May God bless you & family always! :)

Also, thank You, God, for this wonderful and caring group of devoted angel moms. This includes those of us who for whatever reason cannot post as often as we would like to. Lord, I know You understand! :) In Jesus' precious name, Amen

Oh, our dear Miss V, what a beautiful poem about the Circle, you captured the essence and spirit of it in such a lovely way! Love it and love you!
And thank you for the big Group {{Hug}}, I send one back to each and everyone! It hasn't been 8 yrs. though, Miss V, the Circle is going on 7 yrs., and Shane's assing is coming up to 8 yrs. Somedays its very hard to believe that......
Lots of love & Hugs,

I'm sure Shane is laughing over my typo, it's passing of course, :)

1/15/2007 00:20

OK Sandy, Shane must have been laughting his a off with that post. I love when God uses unintentional humor, I believe He has such a sense of humor, just to see us smile!

Verna, that poem is beautiful. It speaks so well of what goes on here. Thank you again for hearing the HS and writing.

I could use some real prayer warriors storming Heaven for me. I have taken on an assignment that will be emotional, draining, and compassionate. I really believe this circle has prepared me for this. We have a single man in his 50's who has terminal cancer. Everyone, including him is praying for a complete healing. However, in the meantime, he has no family to help him. We are his family. A couple of weeks ago I heard the HS say it was time to coordinate what people were doing to help him. Also find out what needs must be met. This is the first time our church has encountered this. I've been going there for four years and have heard over and over that we were a musk ox church. Simply put that means when one is weak the others surround him for his protection. I have seen it happen in prayer very often in church, but as for concrete help, haven't seen all that much. Well, now I am the coordinator and tonight just found out how bad things are. Tonight when I was talking to him about what he needed done, he confided that many times he didn't eat because he couldn't get off the chair to put something in the microwave. The people in church have been very good at sending food, but he needs someone to heat it for him. He needs help bathing, dressing, laundry, cleaning. Emotionally, he is not ready to give up and enter a hospice, and he has no insurance. Since I'm the pragmatic, I have the assignment of making sure he has adequate housing (living) conditions. My co-leader is far more in tune with the HS and she will be his medical power of attorney. She will also fill in when I can't. We're in the beginning stages of building a team, so no one will get burnt out. However, everyone knows his prognosis is not good and our hearts may be broken for awhile. I know that my Elizabeth died many years ago, but this group has helped me so much. It has opened up some old wounds that needed to be healed. It has allowed me to be honest with others, and allow myself to feel other's pain. I have many times been forced to go the the source of all my Comfort. I just need prayer that I don't allow myself to get burnt out. I'm pretty good at organization and can delegate well. But when someone lives five minutes away from me and needs someone to heat his food, it will be real hard to send someone else, if I am available. The fact that the person is a male is a real challenge for me. I have had some real male issues in the past. In the last few years I have learned that not all males are like the ones I have had experiences with. Some are really great. So I see this as a real opportunity to grow, but I also know that unless God directly intervenes, I'm going to get close to him and he will die. I am convinced this assignment is from God, perhaps as preparation for something later on. Last week my therapist was telling me that he had heard a great lecture about caring about someone and not carrying them. This is what I want to really learn. I have been learning that with Betty. Please pray that I listen to the HS in taking care of myself. If I don't care for me, I can't help anyone.

With all that said, it is time for me to shut down and get some sleep. Good night to all and thanks for listening and praying. Love, Jane

Hi my dear Angel sisters. I am so sorry for not writing sooner, I have been busy trying to get our computers ready for tax season, one of the computers crashed and I have been trying to fix it for days, finally I got it to work even though I lost some of the info, tax season is here and my sister is already doing taxes, people are starting earlier this year, I guess we all need the $ sooner.
My dear Ms. V. your poems are always so beautiful and right from the heart, so true, I was thinking when I started in our Circle of Love, you and Sandy were there for me 24/7, there were times that I didn't want to go on living but both of you gave me strenght with your prayers, encouragement, understanding and love I thank God 24/7 for leading me here and for all the friends I have found in the last 53 months. This Circle is indeed Blessed, My love and BIG ANGEL HUGS to all. Selva
P.S. I am trying to catch up reading the back posts, please be sure that my prayers are always with all of you.

1/16/2007 10:10

Hi our dear Jane,
Yes, I could just hear him laughing his laugh over his old Mom's typo, ha, ha.
Wow, what a wonderful thing you and the group are doing for this man, God bless him! Imagine, the poor man couldn't even make it to the microwave to heat up some food! Thank goodness you made the call and found that out! If this Group has helped you in the way's you say it has, then I say Praise be to God! I agree with our dear Selva, Miss V (and anyone else sho's said it) this Circle is blessed mightily and God use's each of us as instruments to do His will for others. It's awesome to know that, thank You Lord for that, its humbling and joyful at the same time.
Yes, by opening up your heart to this man, getting to know him better, you just may end up with a broken heart again, but better that than to walk away and not open your heart, I think you're very brave and give you much credit!
Yes, of course sweetie I'll pray for your intentions and always remember you are loved here and you always have our support as well. Just don't overdo it, remember your goal, and pray yourself (which I know you're doing),
Much love & Hugs,

1/16/2007 10:21

Hi my dear sister,
Great to see a Post from you! Tax season has rolled around again for you and Nancy and I know how busy you both get! Please don't overdo it though, you still need to get your energy and strength back!
Aw, that's so sweet of you to say my dear sister, it was a blessed day you found this Circle and I met my Cuban sister, :). But it was God and yourself too, that helped you in those oh so painful early days, He used Miss V and myself to help you!
Always in my love and prayers & Hugs,

1/16/2007 12:50

Hi Angel Moms, seems I have caught the flu bug. I have been sick since Thursday of last week and just can't shake it yet! I can't remember the last time I was sick so I guess I am due. I am sure being in the valley and letting myself get down didn't help. I wish I could stay home and rest but that is not in my forcast!
Charlene, I hope you are feeling better. It is so hard to fight sometimes isn't it? I am praying for you. Remember to rest....that is the hardest thing to do sometimes. I am guilty of not doing it myself.
Margie, I have been praying for you. I know how it is to have to go to work when all you want to do is pull the covers over your head and stay there. Sometimes I just want to stop the world and get off for awhile so I can sort things out. Hope you are doing well and I will continue my prayers for you.
Sandy, I think typing "help" is a great idea. Sometimes that is all that comes to mind anyway. I will do that in the future, I think we all should. I join in with the big warm HUGS to you for starting and maintaining this wonderful group. :)
Jane, thank you for your prayers. I am praying for you as you take on this awesome opportunity to help someone who so needs it. I know that God is doing wonderful work in your life. I agree with Sandy, open your heart, you have no idea what a difference you will make in that man's life and yours. Charity is the pure love of Christ. Yes dear Jane, the worst is behind me for now. Thank you again for your prayers and care.
Verna, I just love your beautiful poems and your daughter's. What a wonderful gift from God to be able to write like that. Reading your post I remember not being wise in my decisions growing up and taking many things for granted. Thank the Lord that with age also comes wisdom to those who choose to see! Keep the poems coming, I pass them on to friends and they just love them too. Bless you sister.

But the wisdom that comes from Heaven is first of all pure and full of quiet is peace-loving and courteous
James 3:17

Hi my dear sisters, :) After finally getting here and catching up on reading all the inspiring posts since my last post, I feel a miss v. rambler coming on. Ha-ha! But it will take a while to finish typing it. God willing I will get it finished sometime soon. I am just checking in to let everyone know that I am doing ok thus far, and that as always and forever, you're all in my thoughts, which places you in my prayers. :)
God's peace and blessings,

1/18/2007 10:11

Hi dear Kathy, great to see a Post from you but sorry that you too were sick with the flu. It must have been very hard to work while you're feeling so sick, God love you! Yes, it's a good idea, sometime's we need some support, encouragement, prayers and we just don't feel or know how to express it, so just Posting Help will let us all know what a Mom need's!
Aw, that's sweet of you too, and a big {{Hug}} back to you,
Much love & Hugs,

1/18/2007 10:24

Hi dear Miss V, oh good, a rambler coming on! We can wait until you're finished, :). Hope and pray you're taking good care of yourself lately, you know our love and prayers are always with you,
Much love & Angel Hugs,

1/19/2007 20:42

Hi all!!!
I've missed you all SO MUCH!! I started feeling better last Saturday and then we got hit with the rain/freezing rain/sleet storm. Our highway in front of our house was just cleared today. My husband has had to get out but I haven't; I've found plenty to do here at home. He checked on my Mother Monday and found out that she had been without electricity for about 15 hours so he brought her to our house. She's still here even though the electricity is back on at her house; the city where she lives has low water pressure now and they are asking everyone to boil their water. She thought she might need to stay here until the weather clears up some more. That's fine with me, but I can feel myself getting really tired again. I had a good time visiting with her and doing things for her for the first few days, but now I just want to have peace and quiet and be left alone. You might pray for peace for me or that someone would be willing to have her 'visit' with them for a while. :o)
I'm very thankful that she's still alive, but I'm more of a quiet person and like to have my 'alone time' once in a while.
This has been quite a storm! Two of our daughters were without electricity for a few hours but had it restored before any damage was done to water pipes, etc. One daughter had so many trees and big limbs down in her yard that they couldn't get out their back door until yesterday when my husband and her husband cleared all the debris with their chain saws. And the ice there was just starting to thaw today. She said it sounded like it was raining outside but it was just ice and water dripping off of the lines and trees outside. Their local Wal-Mart ran out of just about everything because no trucks could get in to restock their shelves. She said the store had NO crackers or bread, and the list goes on and on. Today they were able to get trucks in to deliver much-needed food and supplies to the store. Several people have died in the area, around 50, due to wrecks and several from carbon monoxide poisoning because they brought generators into their houses or garages so they'd have heat.
Sorry to go on and on; can you tell that I missed you all? :o)
You have all been prayed for, especially Connie yesterday. This is the 1 year anniversary for her Derrick's homegoing so I hope and pray that she is doing okay.
I need to quit this before it gets too long to post. I'll add more probably tomorrow.
Love and many, many (((HUGS))) to you all,

1/20/2007 22:40

Hello all my sisters,
Sorry I haven't been able to post before now. I had a problem with my computer and I had to go get another one. Maybe this one won't crash on me.
I've prayed for all of you everyday even though I couldn't post.
Charlene, you can send your Mother to visit with me. I won't mind the company. But I will pray for peace for you dear sister.
Love you all, Anita

1/20/2007 22:43

Dear Connie,
I'm so sorry I didn't get to post for your Dear Derrick's HD. But you were in my thoughts and prayers dear sister.
I hope you had a peace filled day.
Love you, Anita

1/21/2007 10:29

Hello our dear Charlene!
So happy to have you back! Oh, I know, I read about the terrible storm's in your part of the Country, glad you're alright and your Mother is there with you, good thing your hubby checked on her!
That's too bad about the loss of lives, you have to be so careful with generators.
Yes, you sound happy to be back and we're very happy that you are!
Much love & Hugs,

1/21/2007 10:35

Hi dear Anita, good to see you posting again too! Ugh, computer problems, very happy though you were able to get another, :). Now we'll see more of you around here, you were missed too!
Much love & Hugs,

1/22/2007 09:11

Dear Charlene. So glad that you are feeling better and sorry to hear about so many tragedies because of the storm, I read about it in the newspaper and have been praying for you and family and also Margie and family, Thank God that everybody is fine, we missed you around here. I will continue to pray so you won't have to go through another storm like that and everything will go back to normal, I go through hurricanes so I know the devastation and all that comes with it. My love and prayers my dear sister. Selva
