Shane Whalen
This Prayer Circle is Dedicated to my son Shane Whalen Who Passed Away On March 15, 1999 at the Age of 24, & All Other Children

Start a prayer circle for bereaved parents who have lost a child.

There are many of us out there who have lost a child, and it is devastating. It changes the outlook on life, plunges you into a depression, and you think that the feelings and thoughts you have nobody else could possibly relate to. I think a prayer circle for bereaved parents would only benefit us and help us on our journey of grief. This Circle is one of Love, where a Grieving Parent can safely come to for Prayers, and to talk about their feelings.

Hi dear Billie, gosh yes, it has been a while since you've posted, but it's so good to hear from you! Don't be a stranger, ok, :-).
Aw, I know sweetie, the 2nd Christmas isn't any easier than the 1st, in fact it can be harder to deal with - read dear Marci's post.
I'm happy for you that they got the roads cleared and you were able to visit your precious Nikki, if it bring's you comfort to visit his grave everyday, then that's what works for you. As you move along in your grief in your own time, you may decide to visit once or twice a week. The guilt that you're also feeling right now, most of us go through that phase as well, the first time we smile, or laugh, we immediately feel guilty and think 'I have no right to feel happy or smile, my child is no longer here and they might think I'm forgetting about them, etc.' As you go further along the road it will happen less and less (the guilty feelings). Hm, I know, all of us have to wear that darned mask sometimes, particularly in the beginning where you are right now. Other's just don't understand because thankfully they've never been through this.
Just please take it easy dear one, this is the hardest thing to ever have to deal with, do it one hour at a time, one day at a time, and let your feelings out, if you have to go for a walk to have a good cry, then do that.
And you know you can ALWAYS let it out here, we all understand and share in each other's pain. So don't be a stranger, OK?
Much love, prayers & Hugs,
Sandy

Hello to all angelmoms from a very wet but safe california angelmom!
Thanks for wondering Verna! Yes we are in the middle of all the flooding-we're used to it. Normally the weather here is pretty mild, so when we do get a little rain it doesn't know how to behave itself! Our average rainfall is around 12"! Fortunatly for us we live on on the topside of a hill, with all the rain and mud going right by us! Streets all around our community have totally been destroyed, but no one here has been injured. Our area has several new housing tracts that have added to the problems...rain can't be absorbed into concrete! Nowhere for the water to go but into everyone elses backyards!
Anyway, all is wet and well here!

With much love to all,
Marci~.~

Hello our very wet but safe California Angelmom!
Gee dear Marci, I didn't know about your weather problems, (I just went back and read what Miss V wrote) - glad you're safe and sound, it's pouring rain here too, but thankfully no mudslides!!
Stay in, stay dry and wait for that California sunshine to come back out, :-)
Much love, prayers & Hugs,
Sandy

Hello AngelMoms, I just wanted to wish all of you the happiest of New Years. I pray it brings us all peace, understanding, comfort, and most of all, memories of our angel babies that bring us; even if for a second; JOY!! My Alex's birthday is tomorrow. I spent all of New Years Eve and New Years Day in the hospital in labor. I was also held hostage to every football game that was on tv. I was soo excited to go to the delivery room just to stop watching football. Then my big chub ball Alexander Efrain' came into my life. Smiling more than crying. What a babydoll he was. I miss him so much. It feels like I have lost 2 children now that Savannah is at the Methodist Children's Home about 3 hours away. I never believed my life would end up like this; one child in Heaven, one child who just got back from Iraq and is leaving for Afghanistan in Feb. Like I said, Savannah no longer lives with us and Weston seems to be flying under the radar. It's nothing a great big ole prayer to my Heavenly Father won't solve.
Bedtime for me, it's been a long day
Blessings for all,
Susan

Hello Debbie, ~ Welcome to our circle of love. I am so sorry to read about the loss of your beloved daughter, Samantha. I lost my beloved daughter, Diane, a little over 8 years ago. She was killed in a chain reaction drunk driving crash. We angel moms/dads will never get beyond the pain of missing our beloved children. However, those of us who are a bit farther along on our grief journey can tell you that: As difficult as it may be for you to believe, ... The intense pain that you are feeling 24/7 will someday become easier to bear. The important thing now is to pamper yourself and allow yourself to grieve deeply, in your own way, for as long as you feel the need. Keeping it inside will not make it better. Only those of us who have lost a beloved child can relate to the kind of pain you are dealing with on a daily, and sometimes minute by minute or hourly basis. There is no greater pain; and in my opinion, and no doubt the opinion of the other angel moms here -- The loss of a beloved child is a mother's worst nightmare. We all agree with our chief angel mom, Sandy who says that when we lose a child, a part of us goes with our child. Our lives -- through no fault of our own, have been forever changed. Right now, you are in the very, very early stages of indescribable grief and pain. There really are no words to adequately describe what it is like for you right now in this very early stage of your grief journey. May it comfort you to know that we are here for you, to share your pain, to pray for you & your family, to cry with you, to listen to your fond memories of your child, to offer unconditional love and support, and walk with you at your own pace, throughout this untimely storm. I believe with all my heart that our Lord and Savior, and all our guardian angels welcomed your beautiful daughter, Samantha, into God's kingdom the moment she finished her earthly journey. I join the other angel moms in praying that God will give you, and all bereaved moms/dads, more and more precious moments of peace in the hours/days ahead.

Much love & Angel Hugs,

Verna

Hi angel moms! ~ Gosh it feels great to see everyone checking in to let us know that everyone made it through the holidays. I know; I, too, am grateful that the holidays are over. Special days and holidays are oh, so difficult for all of us; but especially our newly bereaved moms/dads. My prayers were with you all during the holidays and will continue throughout the new year for as long as I am here and then, throughout eternity! :) Can't do the individual post to everyone, 'cause our dear sister, Selva, is keeping an eye on me! :) Only a few sentences at a time, my sister! I have been at it for a couple of days now, [off & on] -- so I am keeping my word to follow Drs. orders! :) I promise!

Much love & Angel Hugs, & I think the flu or bronchitis??? ... :( Oh-oh, Sandy, ... Here we go again! Ha-ha! Look out doctor, ... Here I come for my series of shots!

Hey there Sandy, I see you are still here helping people that really need your strength and guidance; Somehow, I knew that you would be. We finally sold our home this past August and moved in September. We try to keep moving forward, although it isn't always an easy process.
We love the new house and feel that it was a good move for us. We have a great neighborhood and some close friends nearby. I do seclude myself alot though, and feel lost in my thoughts at times. I guess that is par for the course. It's been almost 4 years since Jason was murdered, and at times it seems like yesterday. I'm working full time and I wish I could cut back on my hours.
How are you doing ? You and Verna are so kind to keep helping others with their grief. I think of you all often and keep you in my prayers too.
I think of your dear son, Shane, often. Love, Babbs(Barbara)

Barbara!! What a wonderful surprise to see a Post from you!! I'm so happy you wrote, I often think of you, how you're doing and Jason as well!
I think the last time I heard from you, you were in the process of selling your home, or thinking seriously about it. And you have! It sound's as though you've comfortably made the move and settled into your new home, neighborhood and are slowly building a new life. No, it's not that easy, is it. It permeate's every aspect of our lives and we're different people than we were before our loss.
Hm, I know what you mean, it feel's that way to me too, sometime's too long and other time's everything is still so fresh.
You're working full-time now, did you go back to Nursing? Are you still involved with the Support Group? How's your daughter doing?
I'm as fine as fine can be, :-) and yes, still here at the Circle. I also do part-time work for a Volunteer Org.that I really enjoy. Our oldest, Chris, is in China at the moment, he and his girlfriend left Dec.23rd and will return Jan. 13th - he's having a ball, travelling around and sightseeing as well.
I can't tell you how happy I am that you posted, its SO good to hear from you and how you're doing as well! Is Jason's Anniversary coming up? My memory is not what it used to be, :-).
Please post back, and here's my e-mail address, tuck it away if you ever want to write, sewhalen@yahoo.com
Again, a lovely surpise!
Love, prayers & Angel Hugs,
Sandy

dear angel moms,
hello to all and sorry it has been awhile since i have posted last. you all have been in my thoughts and prayers daily. things are a little crazy around here. some days i don't even know what day it is. but i'm enjoying every minute of it. the girls are getting big and the house almost has the roof on. (if it would stop snowing on the days my husband wants the crew to go there.) being home with the girls and watching them grow up brought lots of memories back of when michael was growing up.. it has made me have lots of dreams when michael was there age and the things i did with him and makes me miss him so much. the pain is still there but now i have learned to live with it even if i don't like it but it lets me get through the rough days. having the girls has helped me alot.
i would like to has for some prayers for my dad.. he will be having surgery on the 13th to remove some cancer from the side of his face. i hope and pray they get it all and he will be fine so i'm asking for some prayers please.

thank you all for listening.my thoughts and prayers to you all.

Dear Father God:
I ask that You would please have mercy on Debbie's dad and make him cancer free. Please, Father, go into that operating room with him and the surgical team. Guide their hands, dear God, as they tenderly and carefully, and compassionately perform the necessary surgery on our Debbie's dad. Give all involved the strength, patience, and peace of mind that only you can provide; and I ask the same for Debbie and her entire family. In the name of the Father, I pray, Amen!

Hey Deb! ~ It's great seeing a post from you! Give those precious and beautiful little daughters of yours a great big angel mom kiss from all of us here. I am sure they are a handful and demand a lot of your time and tender loving care. Family first, I always say! That is especially true when it comes to precious little babies! And what a double blessing God has blessed you and your hubby with. You can count on all the angle moms to keep all of you in our heartfelt prayers! Thank you also, Deb, for continuing to pray for all of us here. Always know that you and family are in our thoughts, which places you all in our heartfelt prayers!
God's peace and blessings,

Good Morning Everyone! ~

According to my faith; my belief in a loving and compassionate creator, I am thanking God for continuing to touch the hearts of people all over the world today. In spite of all the horrific storms, the mass loss of lives ... The power of love and compassion for one's fellow man, still shines through. No matter how great the loss, ... God's amazing grace is still sufficient, and always will be.

Heavenly Father, ~ As we continue to try to make sense of all that's going on in the world today, we thank You for continuing to give mankind the wisdom, the desire, and the courage to love one another unconditionally ... Thus, becoming more like You. In times of trouble, may the power of love and compassion, continue to overflow throughout the world! In the name of the Father,Son, and Holy Spirit I pray, Amen!

Hi dear Deb, great to see a Post from you, I can just imagine how busy you are with the twins - who are so beautiful by the way!
I guess it's only natural Deb that memories of your dear Michael would be coming out, dreams about him at that age. I know it still hurts sweetie, like it or not though, you've found a way to live with it and that's most of the battle. You're always going to have rough days, we all do, but yes, having the girls must be a God-send for you.
That's too bad about your Dad, of course he's in my prayers for healing.
You know we're always here for listening, :-)
