Shane Whalen
This Prayer Circle is Dedicated to my son Shane Whalen Who Passed Away On March 15, 1999 at the Age of 24, & All Other Children

Start a prayer circle for bereaved parents who have lost a child.

There are many of us out there who have lost a child, and it is devastating. It changes the outlook on life, plunges you into a depression, and you think that the feelings and thoughts you have nobody else could possibly relate to. I think a prayer circle for bereaved parents would only benefit us and help us on our journey of grief. This Circle is one of Love, where a Grieving Parent can safely come to for Prayers, and to talk about their feelings.

Oh, our dear Marci, you too of course, I wish that I could have been there to just hold you in that bathroom, lay on the floor with you and just be there with you as you let it all out.
You were busy during the day, no doubt had to put the mask on, then when everyone left you could be yourself and finally let all that pain and grief out as you needed so badly to do, God love you. What a wonderful supportive husband you have, you're blessed, he gave you exactly what you needed at that moment. Oh Marci, that wasn't self-pity, please don't look at it that way, you were owning and honoring your feelings, and that's important. Your husband is so right - hold onto that HOPE, it's what keep's me going as well, one day we will be reunited with our child and no more grief, tears or pain. Imagine!
Love you my sister, & Hugs,
Sandy

~~International Children's Memorial Day``
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
International Children's Memorial Day happens every year on the second Sunday of December and is observed internationally. Families around the world light candles at 7 p.m. in their corresponding time zones. This remembrance ceremony provides the world with lit candles for an entire 24 hour period in order to honor the children we have lost, the children who lived and died, and who, even in death, continue to matter.
I Light This Candle
I light this candle in memory of you,
My life, my child, my heart,
May it shine bright and true,
As you did from the start.
In it's flickering flame I see,
The life we shared together,
The love and wonderful memories,
That I'll carry with me forever.
I light this candle in memory of you,
I look up to the Heavens where you are,
I see the lights of Heaven shining bright too,
But your candle shines brighter than the brightest star.
My child you are still so much a part of me,
Even though you are no longer here,
You live on in my heart where you will always be,
No matter what, I will always keep you there.
On this special night I light this candle for you,
And I hope every one who sees it will know,
How very special you are, how much you are loved and missed too,
And will remember you with me when they see it's golden glow.......
In memory of my darling son Shane and all other AngelKids,
Much love to all & lots of Angel Hugs,
Sandy
Hello Dear Angel Moms/Dads, ~ My prayers will be with you throughout the holidays as we remember our children's' spirit and the unconditional love bond that each of us shared with our beloved child. What a warm and gentle and very special blessing it is to have been chosen by our heavenly Father to watch over them; to share such unconditional love with them throughout their earthly journey, for however long that may have been. We know in our hearts that the circle of love that we share with our children can never be broken. I think perhaps it is that love, that longing to see them, to once again experience their physical presence, to have them remain here on earth much longer, that makes it so difficult for us to accept and acknowledge that their leaving was totally out of our hands. God know this and so do we, and so does our beloved children. They did not choose to leave when they did, but God received them into heaven the moment they finished their earthly journey.
As I expressed in the poem You Are Not Alone, ... We can't see the whole picture. Oh, how we wish we could! Perhaps if we could, we'd have tears of joy in our eyes! I believe with all my heart that the joy that awaits us -- The joy that your children now know -- will surpass even the ultimate grief we live with on an ongoing basis. The passing of time helps, but not a day goes by that we don't think about and long to see our children again. And, thank God, we will someday.
Since we cannot have our children with us in the physical, we are grateful for the fun times we shared with our children for however long, and for the many signs they send to us on a daily basis. I imagine how happy they all are now that they know in full what's in store for us! I believe one of the greatest gifts we angel moms/dads can give or receive throughout the holidays -- and throughout our grief journey -- are the prayers we pray for each other on a daily basis. This is especially true during any of our many special days. As our angel in chief reminds us: There is, indeed, power in prayer!
May we be mindful that God is not impressed with fancy words! All we need do is be sincere when we pray. As I've shared before; God hears even the smallest prayer. But He answers our prayers according to His will; which is not always what we desire. Learning to accept God's will in the same spirit that we accept His the things we consider as blessings are, in my opinion, lessons to be learned by all.
I pray that God will bless our guardian angels; angel moms/dads here, and throughout the world! I also pray for Peace On Earth among the nations of the world.
LOVE2U,
Verna
Dear Chief Angel Mom Sandy, :) I love both poems! The first on made me smile, because it is so cute and the words are so true! The second poem just took my breath away! It is awesome and you better believe I am making a copy of it to frame and place beside the special candle I purchased for the International Children's Memorial Day that you mentioned in your post above. Thanks for reminding us again this year. And, yes, you are and always will be such a blessing to angel moms/dads all over the world! As you know, some can't post often and also, some are still too much in pain to even begin to share their thoughts. But for those whom god has led here, I know they have found lots of love, compassion and understanding, and never have to fear being judged. And that, my dear angel in chief, is a powerful blessing to all! May God continue to bring others here to receive His powerful assurance that He does indeed answer prayer.
Love & Angel Hugs,
[Miss V.]
Angel Moms, ... I am so very sorry that I can't do the individual rambling posts I love to submit on a regular basis. My right wrist is still not healing as fast as I had hoped. I will do my best to respond to your posts as the hand/wrists improve. I have caught up on reading and I am aware of the specifics I need to include in my prayers. Please know that I pray according to your specific requests, or from the general guidance I receive from the Holy Spirit. I always pray that God will grant those peaceful moments for which we all pray!
Love & Angel Hugs,
One more post, ... and then to bed! :) I think I told you all that Diane's photo was among the ones chosen for Mother's Against Drunk Driving [MADD'S] Louisiana billboard campaign. I was told that it would only be placed in the Baton Rouge area; which is Louisiana's State capitol. To our surprise one has been placed in downtown Shreveport on North Market Street, just as you would enter downtown Shreveport from the North. The spiritual signs/blessings are still happening. See, ... Cheryl never goes to that section of town, but because she had won a gift at some radio station which was located in that section of town, she and her son, went to pick up the gift, and while on the way back, she just happened to look up and see the billboard. Longgggggg story! Ha-ha! Once she recovered, she called to inform me that it was here. I went down later to see it, and it is so very beautiful. :) I do believe MADD'S powerful and touching message, thereon, will help save lives.
I was born and raised in Shreveport, and the house we lived in [which is no longer there], was on Market Street. :) We lived on the southern end of Market, but it is the same street, just on the southern end of downtown. I have not checked with our state director of Victim's Services yet; so I don't know if their are other billboards in the Shreveport/Bossier City area. I plan to do so as soon as time permits. This is also chilling. The billboard is facing the neighborhood where my dad's Mom; [Diane's] great-grandmother used to live. Daddy's mother died when I was very young, preschool aged, so I don't remember her that well. I only recall seeing her once at our house, and I recall daddy taking me over to her house one day, but I don't recall seeing her on that occasion; only that I was fascinated by the beautiful trees in her back yard. :) Which reminds me, there are so many things we will never understand until our work here on earth is done and God reveals the whole picture.
Diane's daddy and his brother went down and took pictures of the billboard one day, and he picked them up yesterday. I want spoil it for you, but if you would like a copy of the photo of the billboard with Diane's photo and a message from MADD, please send me your address in an email and I will send you a copy in a Christmas Card. Yes, I am starting early this year! I usually end up never getting the cards sent off in time, "IF" at all. Lol So this year, I picked up a box of cards that simply say: Best Wishes for the Holiday Season. That way, it should reach everyone on time! :)
Love & Hugs,
Verna
[PS: Don't worry angel moms; this posting session has taken several days to complete. So, I promise, I am not overdoing it]. :)
Ah, loved reading your posts, our dear Miss V, and the beautiful poem, :-).
What a wonderful way to honour Diane's spirit and you yourself, with the hard work you do with MADD. Yes, please send me a photo! OH, have to set the record straight, I didn't write that poem, well you saw my first one, so obviously it wasn't me, ha, ha! See, it brought a smile to your face too, :-).
But yes, this upcoming Sunday is International Candle Lighting Day for all children who have gone on before us, so let's all light our candle's on that day and make the Heaven's shine even more, :-)
Much love & Angel Hugs,
Sandy
This is Beliefnet's Prayer of the Day. It occured to me that most of us here have lost our child suddenly, without warning, and it's a shock, a trauma, some of us even suffer or have from PTSD.
Hence today's Prayer for all;
Most merciful God,
bless all who have suffered trauma
in their lives.
Support them with love
during their time of shock.
Grace them with peace
as they wrestle with the challenges
of each day.
Sustain them in hope
as they prepare for the days ahead.
Amen.
Much love to all & Tender Hugs,
