Shane Whalen
This Prayer Circle is Dedicated to my son Shane Whalen Who Passed Away On March 15, 1999 at the Age of 24, & All Other Children

Start a prayer circle for bereaved parents who have lost a child.

There are many of us out there who have lost a child, and it is devastating. It changes the outlook on life, plunges you into a depression, and you think that the feelings and thoughts you have nobody else could possibly relate to. I think a prayer circle for bereaved parents would only benefit us and help us on our journey of grief. This Circle is one of Love, where a Grieving Parent can safely come to for Prayers, and to talk about their feelings.

My days have been full of explaining which firework is quiet, which one is noisy or which one is the most powerful! Never have I ever thought that I would be telling people that something goes “pop-pop-pop” or that something has “sleeting silver stars that shoot red and green flames!” We try to make it fun but it is work too. By the end of the week we’re all so tired that all the fireworks become the same and they all go “pop-pop-pop” and have “sleeting silver stars that shoot red and green flames!”

So, hopefully, this explains my abstinence. I am with you all in heart and with prayers. This has been a very bittersweet time for me. My son Sean-Michael was always my right-hand man at the booth. He would even dress up as “Uncle Sam” and wave to children! I cried three times the first day and at least once a day since then. I try not to think about it and have to remind myself that people are here to buy fun! They don’t want to see some middle aged mom getting misty-eyed. It’s tough when I’m tired and things are a little slow. My heart begins to ache. Many of our swim team parents have never heard the totally story of what happened to our son. When alone with me somehow they get the courage to gently ask a few questions. I truly don’t mind when I’m not tired and exhausted. I really do not like to cry in front of anyone. On the other hand, sometimes I wonder if there are those who might think that I am “cold and uncaring” or that I got “over it” quickly. Neither of which is the case! I just don’t want to make anyone else uncomfortable.

My beloved son Sean-Michael’s birthday is July 15th. Sean would be 19 years old. This is the first birthday without him. He passed away August 9th. He never really got the chance to experience the new found freedom of being 18 years of age. Boy this is tough!

Selva, we too have a punching bag set up. I can’t hit it right now because of my finger. Hmmm, maybe I’ll go kick it!

Please know that I love you all and that I miss reading and sharing with everyone. I will be back soon.
With much love to all,

Selva, Susan Sandy, and Miss V. Thank you so much for your inquiring minds! I do have a traveling laptop alas I do not have wi-fi internet! My hubby thinks I’m on the web way too much already! Miss V, I have 4 PC’s two new. Nothing compares to the new PC’s. You’ll be able to do so much more in half the time! As far as laptops are concerned, they are VERY expensive, break down all the time because they get moved around all the time and the monitors only last for a few years. I use one because of swimming. We download meets and results when we travel. Also, compared to a pc monitor the laptops have SMALL monitors (even if it’s a wide screen like mine) and the fonts are WAY too SMALL! A desktop is cheaper, more powerful and easier on the eyes! I have had 2 top of the line laptops- a Sony and Toshiba with all the bells and whistles. I do not like using them at home. My hubby says it’s my $2000 DVD player when at home and his right, it is!

Much love to you all, my sisters! I do miss you very much!

I am off to sell fun and fireworks!
Love, Marci~.~

Hi Everyone! Sandy, hope you had a ball celebrating Canada Day! :) Yall have made my day, or night, rather! Just coming here to read after being unable to sign on [since my last post] has been so uplifting! Sandy, Selva, Sue: Trust me, [ha-ha]! I have learned this the hard way! Now, all I have to do is quit. As it says in the movie: The house always win. :( So I try not go so often and when I do, I play mostly nickel slots. Hey Sue, I bet you will recognize me whenever we meet because I used to live at the Isle! [just kidding]. :) The Isle of Capri is where I had my very first and only BIG win! I won $8,269.25 shortly after losing my Diane. I can't recall if it was in Dec. of '96 or '97 now, but I do remember that I ended up taking the $8,000 in a check and going right on down stairs and losing the $269.25! Ha-ha! Of course, back then, I was still working, so it was no big deal. Now that I am retired and so is hubby, I really can't afford to lose. So, as Erica [can't think of her last name] says in her hit song; "I think I'd better call Tyrone!" ha-ha! Selva, [bless your sweet loving heart], pulleeze hold up on the Oprah contact until I hear back from Leia, my book project manager! We still have a lot of legal stuff to get cleared up so we won't get sued by anyone when the final editing is complete and the book is published. Trust me, there is a lot of editing and legal issues involved when writing a book of this nature; more than I EVER imagined. We still have to complete the final editing, copyright, grant proposals, etc. Also, I still have to have several copies made of the final edited manuscript to share with potential sponsors. That is why it takes so long to complete the entire project. So, just be patient my sister, and God willing, it will happen, ... in God's time! :) And remember, when it does, you and Cheryl will have to go on the Oprah show because Yo Miss V. does not fly! Ha-ha! Oh, your grandson will love to receive a card from his Cuban American grandma! He will be 10 years old! My, the time does fly! Cheryl and I had made plans to go look for a computer today but it rained, so we canceled until after the holiday. AOL ran some kind of update on my computer earlier today and afterwards, I was able to sign-on. Don't know what they did, but so far it is working, praise God. :) OK Yall, before I get cut off and lose this post, I am going to submit and hope it gets through! My love & prayers are always with yall! Hey Sue, I will give you a call one day next week [weather permitting], so we can finally meet somewhere in Bossier City! My Cheryl used to live in Bossier City in the red brick apartments right in front of the base, on the left, just before you get to the bridge over Red River. I believe it was called The Cardova Apartments. Anyway, we will get together soon!
Love & Angel Hugs to All,

My dear Sandy!
Hello! I just got home from the Fireworks booth and posted the above postings tonight...ran out of time this am. I do want to let you know that YAHOO MAIL is having big time problems with their upgrading. I asked. I too am unable to use my account...I can not send, forward reply etc. They are aware that they have big time problems...but are of little help! Hopefully they will figure out a way to fix it soon! It has been quite annoying hasn't it?! They suggested that I hit the "REFRESH" button and assured me that they are trying to fix the problem! I went through the help and then emailed them with my questions. The next post is their answer!

7/2/2004 02:16

Thank you for writing to Yahoo! Mail.

Please know that we are aware of the issue you described in your email.
There appeared to have been a widespread Internet issue that could have
affected numerous websites and we are currently investigating its
potential impact on our services. Also, we are currently upgrading
tens of millions of Yahoo! Mail accounts for consumers worldwide, some
users may experience temporary fluctuations in service as we update

Thank you again for contacting Yahoo! Customer Care.

7/2/2004 02:20

I personally have had no results from hitting the refresh button on my browser and have a feeling that the "issue" they are speaking of is a some kind of worm virus! We'll have to see! no one is safe anymore!
I hitting the hay! Hope all is well! with much love and prayers,

Hi my dear hermana Marci, wow it is so great to hear from you, I knew you were busy, after all it is summer and good for swimming, sorry about your finger, hey don't over do it, but I am glad that you are keeping busy, that is the best way to get away from valley days, I am planning to work all weekend, it is very hard, by this time Solange was off to the Fla keys and me waiting for her to call me and tell me she safely arrived, then worry all weekend long and calling her at all times (she hated it) ha ha but she always answered her cell when it was Mom. I fell down 2 days ago and again hurt my sacrum it was healing OK but I think I did it again with the fracture, I am in great pain, but when I had the accident they told me there was nothing to do on it, and it will heal by itself, so I went to work and have been taking pain pills, my sister wanted me to go to the Dr. but hech, what for?, I just put ice and pain killers, I am sure your are doing the same with your finger. I (we) are very glad to hear from you my dear sister, and remember whenever you get a chance cry if you must, it is the only way to get all that pain out. I know about not crying in public, but heck, we are mothers who lost their child, we have to cry. Don't worry about anybody else. I hope you make enough money to keep that Fund going. Bless you my sister. Love Selva

7/3/2004 07:52

Hi our dear Marci, wow, it's good to hear from you again, you've been missed!
You DO have a lot on your plate! And just what made you think you could move that Boulder by yourself, :-). Not only are you very busy, with an injured finger, but also experiencing deep in the valley days, God bless you! I hope it slow's down soon for you, hopefully after today, yes, I'm sure you know more about firecracker's than you ever wanted to, but I pray that after today you can get some "me" time in, you're going to end up 'running on empty', (if you're not there yet) and that's not good. I know, I don't like crying in public either, only because I'm one of those messy, slobbery crier's, not a pretty sight, but when they've come, there's no stopping them, so don't you hold back either, as you say, it's a bittersweet time for you in that Booth right now, plus you've got Sean Michael's Birthday coming up, and then his 1st Anniversary! So I pray that you can take some downtime and just deal with one thing at a time.

Oh, so it's not me, you're experiencing problems with Yahoo too! It's driving me crazy, please bear with me everyone, I've wanted to respond to fwd.'s, etc., but I can't, Yahoo sometime's just won't send them out, as hard as I try!
I'm glad you posted about it Marci, you got the truth out of them, they told me it was my Browser and I replied back, "Nooo, my Browser is fine, it's only Yahoo I'm having problem's with". Haven't heard from them since, but their Reply to you make's sense and I hope they get it straightend out sooner rather than later!

Thinking of you, praying for you, keeping you in my heart and love - and please slow down and take sometime for yourself, you're burning the Candle at both end's,
Lots of Hugs too,

Hi my dear Angel sisters. Happy 4th of July, when I say Happy you know what I mean, but at least "Count your Blessings" and be proud (as I am) to live in this Country of ours. Enjoy what freedom is, in my old country Cuba, people can not express themselves if they do they go to jail for 20 years just by saying f....Castro, and when I say Jail, I mean Hell, physical abuse, mentally and physical, no food, no beds, rats all over and I mean hell I have a good friend living through that, so I know, this is the most wonderful nation in the world, here I learned what Freedom is all about. God Bless America. Love you all. Selva

HELLO TO EVERYONE, I haven't posted on here for sometime now, my son passed away 21 years ago now. But now I come requesting that everyone be in prayer for my ex-mother in law, this past thursday a.m. her son passed away which was the father of my 3 children, she is now 80 years old and is still very aware of everything and lives at home still with her husband. I did call her this morning and reached out to her, i know that missing of losing my son which was her grandson, so i thought who better to talk with her than some one that has been there, and she knew my son very well and was right there 21 years ago when he passed. I haven't talked with her in so long but still felt it was up to me to call and reasurre her he was in a better place. But the missing can go on and on and on sometimes, but to reassure her and tell her i love her and if there was anything i could do please call. I have twin daughters by this man also and they have been in touch with this woman also but the power of prayer wins the battles, and GOD answers prayer, her name is JEAN so i would greatly appreciate your prayers for her. Thank-you very much.-----SHARON

7/4/2004 09:26

Hello Sharon, nice to see a Post from you again, but not very good new's, I'm very sorry to read that. I think it was wonderful of you to reach out to your ex-mother-in-law, it doesn't really matter how old your child was, it still hurt's, and we know Jean must be, so of course we'll cover her in prayer, and condolences for your children also, as well as prayer's. Yes indeed, God answer's prayers, so be assured of our's!
Love & Angel Hugs,

Hi my dear sister, and a Happy, Peaceful 4th of July to you and all here, I know, sometime's we who live in freedom, democracies, just take it for granted, while many other's in this World of our's don't have it and live under totalitarian rule, not enjoying those very freedom's that we should be so grateful for.
Hi Miss V, we're posting at the same time, :-)
Happy, Peaceful Independence Day to all,
Much love & Angel Hugs,

Psalm 34:19
Praying for you and your family.

7/5/2004 11:10

Thank-you so much for the prayers for JEAN, the twins are doing fairly good i made sure they were together yesterday our pastor wants to go visit them which i am sure they need right now. I have really tried reasuring them that there dad is in a better place which i know he is. He is not suffering anymore he had been on oxgyen since at least 1998 a long time, he was only 62. HE was completely confined to his room and could not walk anymore or stand. I always seem to spend most of my time consoling others and it seems to help me cope and i get very blessed out of doing that. "IT TRULY IS MORE BLESSED TO GIVE THAT RECEIVE". Thank- you again for your prayers. ......SHARON

7/5/2004 13:03

Hello Paulette, thank you so much for your prayers, and the line from Psalm 34 is a very comforting one, may God bless you with whatever it is He know's you may need today,
Love & Angel Hugs,

7/5/2004 13:14

Hi Sharon, oh, you're very welcome, the best gift we can give one another is prayer! That's a wonderful idea to have the Pastor talk to the twins, it's going to be difficult for them losing their Dad, God bless them, and of course they have you, their Mom, to turn to also in their grief. Happy too that you're finding peace in yourself, helping other's, what you give out, you will receive back tenfold,
Much love & Angel Hugs,

7/5/2004 13:18

A beautiful quote I came across today:

There is Sacreness in tears,
They are not the mark of weakness
but of power.
They speak more eloquently than ten thousand tongues.
They are the messengers of overwhelming grief,
of deep contrition and of
unspeakable love.

Love Sandy
