Jennifer F
Christmas wishes

I'm an unemployed single mom with 2 kids age 3 and 5..I don't have any family except my children. I DO NOT recieve any assistance from the government.

I am getting discouraged with the holidays. I donate to Toys for Tots, I volunteer at a local hospital.. I give food to neighbors when they ask. I am in need of help, but no one will help me. I have nothing for my own children. Christmas is about things other then presents but how do I explain it to my kids? Is it selfish to ask those I've helped in the past for help when I need it?

Proverbs 19:17: He who is kind to the poor lends to the LORD, and He will reward him for what he has done. (NIV)

Father God, I thank You for being a present help in times of trouble for Jennifer. I thank You for making a way out of no way. I thank You that her kids will have a great Christmas and will have presents to open on Christmas morning. I thank You that there are churches and/or organizations in her area where she can sign her kids up to receive toys/gifts for Christmas. And I thank You that this time next year, she will be in a better predicament, and she will be able to give freely to whomsover she chooses. Thank You for this and all blessings, in Jesus' Name I pray. Amen.

Jennifer, here are some more Scriptures that you can read and meditate on that will help you through this:

Ruth 2:12; 1 Samuel 26:23; 2 Chronicles 15:7; Jeremiah 31:16

God bless you and yours...

I don't think it's selfish to ask for help, especially of those who've helped yourself. (Assuming, of course, you ask them kindly and don't try to "guilt them" into it.) In any event may God be with you and your family and help you materially and spiritually through hardships. Amen!

Do ask those who love you for help. It's easy to not recognize that your need for help is an opportunity for THEM, an opportunity for them to do good, and to feel good about doing something to help others, just as you do in your life.

Heavenly Father, we hold up our sister Jennie for Your blessings and comfort. Provide for her, Lord, as You provide for us all. Send also Your Holy Spirit to comfort and reassure her. Bless also, we ask, Jennie's loved ones, especially her young children. We ask this in the name of Christ, our Saviour - amen.

Jesus said: "I tell u the truth, anyone who gives a cup of water in my name...will certainly not loose his rewards"(Mark,9:41)... whatever you did for others God takes it as if you did it for him, and he certainly rewards that. 7 times of what u gave... Hold on to that promise sister! May the God of all grand you the desires of your heart and fulfill every need in your life, in the name of Jesus i pray: AMEN!!!!!!!!!
