Family is Mourning the Death of Their Daughter, Maria Sue

Maria Sue, the 5-year-old daughter of contemporary Christian artist Steven Curtis Chapman, died after being hit by an SUV in the driveway of the family's home. Please pray for the family in their moment of mourning.

Heavenly Father,

I pray that you would provide comfort to the Chapman family in the wake of the death of Maria Sue. Be with them every step of the way, enveloping them in your loving arms and speaking words of comfort and peace. Help them to remember the wonderful times they had with Maria Sue. Let them remember her smile, her joy, her love, and the sunshine she brought into their lives. I thank you that you made it so that they would adopt her and give her a better life and that was surely not in vain. You gave Steven the gift of writing and singing songs for your glory and I pray that this moment would soon become another song that will not only minister to him but to those who have lost children. We know that all things work for the good of those who love you, so please work it out for them. Let this moment of mourning last only a moment in exchange for the beauty, gladness, and the garment of praise you give when we come through on the other end of such a moment of darkness.
