Cheryl Ditchey

My Guardian Angel, Auntie Cheryl, passed away on July 24, 2007. I was very close to her and I still am. Unfortunately, she lived a life that was led by abusive men, including her very own husband, whose abuse was of a horrific kind--mental.

Analysis of an Abuser

With a distorted smile he slivers through the island
Like a snake in the mud
Thirty two years and he still can’t grasp life
The body of a man, the mind and soul of a child—
A dual persona,
A monster in the boy

Abuse is the only thing he knows how to give
Words are his weapons
His tongue—a double edge sword of verbal brutality
Sadness begets anger
The lashes of his sword—
Fueled by the all too familiar hurt of a boy

The monster in the boy—
A mask hiding a frail child
An unwoven ball of rage—
Covering up his inadequacy to live as a man
His only achievement in life—
Success at becoming his own worse fear—
A failure
