Our Precious Daughter

Hi my name is Antoinette. I have a 6month old baby girl, RayAnne. She is a very long awaited gift to not only her father and I, but her entire family. At about 20 weeks into my pregnancy during a regular follow up some complications arose.

Through many tests and lots of waiting she was finally diagnosed with a symptom called arthrogryposis. The Chances of her being a strong baby were slim. She was born in a complete fetal position with her hands clenched in a fist, legs bent in towards her and her feet completely distorted. Shen then spent about 6 days in the NICU and was finally sent home. Arthrogryposis is a very generic form for saying that she's got mulitple joint contractures, and she has limited mobility. Today, she has progressed really well, but she still has alot of hurdles to over come. At around her one year birthday she is going to require surgery in her legs and feet so that it can be corrected. Her chances of actually walking are not known yet. She is learning to work with her hands. I am here today to ask that everyone come together and say a prayer that RayAnne can live as normally as possible... It's so easy for those of us with whole bodies to see others with physical disformities as a tragedy but later do we find out how truly limited we are in our perceptions. I know you have granted this little girl with a remarkable mind and spirit. Please use her gifts to minister to others and guide her parents to know the difference between what the can do and accept what they cannot. Praise you Lord for giving these wonderful people such a precious gift. If we all were so lucky to celebrate the simple victories in life, then anything could be accomplished.
