Betty Goddard
Stage IV Lung Cancer

Betty recently discovered that she has terminal cancer, though she had no symptoms. Overnight, she went from living to the reality of her own mortality. Though we know that death is inevitable for us all, it is still frightening to face it head-on.

On New Year's Eve, Betty had a spontaneous hip fracture with no appearant cause. On New Year's Day she had a hip replacement. Through a routine chest x-ray in rehab, a spot was found on her lung, which was later diagnosed as Stage IV lung cancer with metastysis to her bone. She is now undergoing chemo therapy, not as a cure, but in the hope of managing the disease and possibly prolonging the quality of her life here on earth. Betty's life has been a reflection of her Father's love. In her return home to Him, I pray that His peace, love and reassurance will be her guide and give her the stregnth and courage that she will need to make the journey.
