A son in crises

Desperately needs to quit binge drinking. Wants to die.

My son is 30 yrs. old. He has been drinking for 11 yrs........Hates himself so much
he wants to leave this world.
This man is so generous and giving
and only of the other person, when not drinking.
He drinks so badly, that each weekend he has to go the emgerency
room for treatment.
His esphoughs is burned badly as is his stomach. His pancrease and
liver are not in good shape. He says the only reason he still trying is for myself and Dad.
I don't understand why God would
want this man to kill himself when he has so many God given talents.
I do have strong faith but I guess not strong enough. I know God gives us tests to overcome but do they have to be about life or death.
His Dad and I are so depressed and down that we have nothing left to fight with.
Please pray for him and us so we may have the strength to get through this difficult time and keep us sane.
He lives in a trailer in our side yard.
Thanking you in advance.

We're sorry your son feels so badly right now. It sounds as if he would benefit from talking to a caring person who is trained to help. We have three resources he could try. We hope he will contact one of them as soon as possible. He deserves to get help, and to get it sooner rather than later.

1. If he is in the U.S., he can call 1-800-SUICIDE any time, day or night. When he calls this free number, he will be connected immediately to a caring, trained counselor in her region. The sooner he makes this call, the better. (helplines worldwide)

2. If he can hold on for a few days, free anonymous crisis counseling is available by e-mail from an international charity called The Samaritans. By sending an e-mail to jo@samaritans.org he will receive a caring response within 24 hours.

3. There is a website he may find helpful, called Suicide: Read This First.

He is in our prayers.
