Soul in Agony

A Good Man's Habitual Self-Punishment

This good man in my life, this love of my life, is in agony from beginning to drink, again. He despises himself each and every time he puts himself in this position, but still he does. He says he doesn't know why-and maybe that's true, but I can't believe it. All he says he wants in life he has-good kids that love him, me and I'm good for him, good job doing what he enjoys, health all around and yet he risks it all for a drink. He is such a good person, but he cannot see it. Please God, don't let this beautiful child of yours destroy himself, destroy me. Help him find his strength to pick himself up again and walk away from alcohol, for good. Help him to know that he is not alone and cannot do this thing alone. Help him to understand that reaching out for you is strength not weakness. Help him to know that he is truly loved and worthy of that love. Help him to know that I don't want to grow old without him by my side. Help him to come home. And So It Is.
