Just as the soft rains fill the streams,
pour into the rivers and join together in the oceans, so may the power of every moment of your goodness flow forth to awaken and heal all beings,
Those here now, those gone before, those yet to come.

By the power of every moment of your goodness May your heart's wishes be soon fulfilled
as completely shining as the bright full moon, as magically as by a wish-fulfilling gem.

By the power of every moment of your goodness May all dangers be averted and all disease be gone.

May no obstacle come across your way.
May you enjoy fulfillment and long life.

For all in whose heart dwells respect,
who follow the wisdom and compassion, of the Way, May your life prosper in the four blessings of old age, beauty, happiness and strength.

Be generous in prosperity, and thankful in adversity. Be fair in thy judgement, and guarded in thy speech. Be a lamp unto those who walk in darkness, and a home to the stranger. Be eyes to the blind, and a guiding light unto the feet of the erring. Be a breath of life to the body of humankind, a dew to the soil of the human heart, and a fruit upon the tree of humility.

Oh God! Thou art the Giver of Life, Remover of pain and sorrow, The Bestower of happiness, Oh! Creator of the Universe, May we receive thy supreme sin-destroying light, May Thou guide our intellect in the right direction.

My prayer for strength:

If anyone speaks ill of you,
Praise them always.
If anyone injures you,
Serve them nicely.
If anyone persecutes you,
Help them in all possible ways.

You will attain
immense strength.

You will control anger and pride.

You will enjoy
peace, poise, and serenity.

You will become divine.

Please, raise my soul

O Great Spirit, whose Voice I hear in the Winds,

Hear me -- for I am small and weak:
I need Your Strength and Wisdom.

I seek Strength, O Great One, not to be superior to my Brothers --

But to conquer my greatest enemy: Myself.

I seek Wisdom: the Lessons You have hidden

In every Leaf and Rock so that I may learn

And carry these messages of Life and Hope to my People.

May my hands respect the many beautiful things You have made;

May my ears be sharp - to hear Your voice.

May I always walk in Your beauty;

And let my eyes behold the red and purple Sunset

So that when Life fades with the setting Sun,

My Spirit will come to You without shame.

PLEASE TAKE AWAY THE STRESS

May all living beings have happiness and the causes of happiness;

May all living beings be free from misery and the causes of misery;

May all living beings never be separated from happiness, devoid of misery;

May all living beings abide in equanimity free from prejudicial attachments and aversions.

May all beings everywhere plagued
with sufferings of body and mind
quickly be freed from their illnesses.

May those frightened cease to be afraid,
and may those bound be free.

May the powerless find power,
and may people think of befriending
one another.
May those who find themselves in trackless,
fearful wilderness--
the children, the aged, the unprotected--
be guarded by beneficent celestials,
and may they swiftly attain light.

In Remembrance of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

God of our forebears and our God, who has summoned women and men throughout the ages to be thy witnesses and sometimes martyrs for thee, we bow before thee this day in remembrance and thanksgiving for the life and legacy of thy servant, witness and martyr, the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. We thank thee for his time among us, for his words and for his deeds, and for the quality of his living witness which eases the pain of recalling the brevity of his years. We rejoice in his example of obedient faith and the scenes and stations of his life which inform and enrich our own faith journeys. And we beseech thee this day for the strength, steadfastness and courage not only to remember but also to obey.

Prayer of Thanksgiving

God of all blessings,
source of all life,
giver of all grace:

We thank you for the gift of life:
for the breath
that sustains life,
for the food of this earth
that nurtures life,
for the love of family and friends
without which there would be no life.

We thank you for the mystery of creation:
for the beauty
that the eye can see,
for the joy
that the ear may hear,
for the unknown
that we cannot behold filling the universe with wonder,
for the expanse of space
that draws us beyond the definitions of our selves.

We thank you for setting us in communities:
for families
who nurture our becoming,
for friends
who love us by choice,
for companions at work,
who share our burdens and daily tasks,
for strangers
who welcome us into their midst,
for people from other lands
who call us to grow in understanding,
for children
who lighten our moments with delight,
for the unborn,
who offer us hope for the future.

We thank you for this day:
for life
and one more day to love,
for opportunity
and one more day to work for justice and peace,
for neighbors
and one more person to love
and by whom be loved,
for your grace
and one more experience of your presence,
for your promise:
to be with us,
to be our God,
and to give salvation.

For these, and all blessings,
we give you thanks, eternal, loving God,
through Jesus Christ we pray. Amen.

Christo-Celtic Prayer
Against the Powers of Darkness

attributed to St. Patrick

On earth in this fateful hour
I place all Heaven with its power
the sun with its brightness
the snow with its whiteness
the fire with all the strength it hath
the lightning with its rapid wrath
the winds with their swiftness along their path
the sea with its deepness
the rocks with their steepness
the earth with it starkness
all these I place
With God's almighty help and grace
between myself and the powers of darkness.

Amen.

May We Feel Compassion

May each of us find our true path, learn from our mistakes, and accept each other's evolutionary pathway and not feel, show, or express disapproval with the choices the other makes.

May we feel compassion instead of hatred, love instead of anger, and an acceptance not only of others but of ourselves as well. May each of us do all of the above in a mindful way.

Amazing grace! How sweet the sound
That saved a wretch like me!
I once was lost, but now am found;
Was blind, but now I see.

’Twas grace that taught my heart to fear,
And grace my fears relieved;
How precious did that grace appear
The hour I first believed.

Through many dangers, toils and snares,
I have already come;
’Tis grace hath brought me safe thus far,
And grace will lead me home.

The Lord has promised good to me,
His Word my hope secures;
He will my Shield and Portion be,
As long as life endures.

Yea, when this flesh and heart shall fail,
And mortal life shall cease,
I shall possess, within the veil,
A life of joy and peace.

The earth shall soon dissolve like snow,
The sun forbear to shine;
But God, Who called me here below,
Shall be forever mine.

When we’ve been there ten thousand years,
Bright shining as the sun,
We’ve no less days to sing God’s praise
Than when we’d first begun.

May There Be Peace Within

May you trust your highest power that you are exactly where you are meant to be...

May you not forget the infinite possibilities that are born of faith.

May you use those gifts that you have received, and pass on the love that has been given to you...

May you be content knowing you are a child of God...

Let this presence settle into our bones, and allow your soul the freedom to sing, dance, praise and love. It is there for each and every one of you...

a single mind and body is moonlight in the water;

once the cunning ends and information stops,

at that moment there is no place for thought.

Thanksgiving for a Beginning of Recovery

O Lord, your compassions never fail and your mercies are new every morning: We give you thanks for giving our brother/sister ___ both relief from pain and hope of health renewed. Continue in him, we pray, the good work you have begun; that he, daily increasing in bodily strength, and rejoicing in your goodness, may so order his life and conduct that he may always think and do those things that please you; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

Make Me Brave for Life

God, make me brave for life: oh, braver than this.

Let me straighten after pain, as a tree straightens after the rain,

Shining and lovely again.

God, make me brave for life; much braver than this.

As the blown grass lifts, let me rise
From sorrow with quiet eyes,

Knowing Thy way is wise.

God, make me brave, life brings
Such blinding things.

Help me to keep my sight;

Help me to see aright

That out of dark comes light.

Make Me an Instrument of Your Peace

Lord, make me an instrument of your peace.

Where there is hatred, let me sow love,

Where there is injury, pardon

Where there is doubt, faith,

Where there is despair, hope,

Where there is darkness, light,

Where there is sadness, joy.

O Divine Master, grant that I may not so much seek to be consoled as to console, not so much to be understood as to understand, not so much to be loved, as to love;

for it is in giving that we receive,
it is in pardoning that we are pardoned, it is in dying that we awake to eternal life.

Child's Prayer

Lord in heaven,
please listen to all those
who are praying to you now.

Those who are sad and crying,
those who have lost friends and family.

Those who are alone
and frightened.

Help them to remember,
that you are there
and you are listening.

In Jesus' name, we pray.
Amen.

Prayer for Peace at Imbolc

This is Imbolc, when the ice begins to melt, the earth begins to soften, and the seed begins to stir in the darkness. Let the small seeds of peace also stir within the hearts of those who have been locked in the ice of fear, anger, and hatred.

As the heat of the sun strengthens and warms the earth, so may the heat of love and compassion strengthen the will and spirits of all of us who strive for peace.

I will strive to soften my impatience, so that my compassion can break free and thrive. Peace is a harvest worthy of my patience. I cannot hasten the growth of the crop by tugging on the new shoots. But I can prepare the soil where the seeds of peace may grow.

I can allow love to burn so brightly within me that I glow with the force of it, and allow it to shine so that the fear and anger held within the hearts of others begins to soften and melt.

Peace is not an outward ideal, but an inner truth that lies deep within each heart. May it break forth and flourish. So mote it be.
