Nicotine Addiction

For those who are addicted to nicotine.

I quit smoking 21 years ago when my wife became pregnant with our first child. I didn't want my son (as it turned out to be) to be exposed to to the harmful effects of nicotine. I had been smoking for a number of years and could not quit for myself, but had to have a reason greater than myself to quit. Now after 21 years I have begun to smoke again and am very disappointed in myself for having started again. I have tried to quit several times recently, but like all addicts, I continue to find a reason to smoke again and again. I have come to realize that I do not have the strength to quit on my own and need God's help to quit. Please pray for me and for others that we may have the strength to quit, not just for ourselves, but for the people we expose to this risk every time we light up.

	BAPETNUT 9/24/2002 20:57	I too also smoke off and on and have learned recently Im type 1 Diabetic at 38 and need to totally stop this problem. The problem is now Im addicted to Nicoreete gum which is just subing the Cigs. When I get stressd or bored I then find myself sneaking cigs again because the gum is so expensive. I no this is a hard addiction to quit but yet it can be done. I pray for myself and all going thru this that God may give us enought strength to QUIT ALL TOGETHER.. I pray this daily "God grant me the serentity to except the things we cannot change, courage to change the things we can,and the courage to no the difference..Sometimes easier said than done...I hope we can all overcome this terrible habbit and live long healty lives..
