A dear son has removed me from his life

How can a mother lose a son who has always been loved? Can he ever forgive me for the things I said when I was ill? This precious young man has had every privilege and loved me until I had a nervous breakdown. Itis hard to lose a child still alive.

Since 1999 my son, age 24, has been estranged from me. I had a nervous breakdown and said some things to him that were hurtful. Prior to that, we were close and loving. He had a good childhood, and I was there for every activity he tried. He is now a college graduate and has a successful career. I have apologized to him repeatedly, have regained my stability, and pray for his protection daily. Some say he will return to me, but I wonder if it will be in my lifetime. I am not allowed to have his address or phone number. I have another son, we have a wonderful relationship, but there is a great empty wound in my heart for my younger son.
