a brother who won't be forgotten

"Michael" is my brother, even though he's never met me. He was given in adoption by his mother in 1977, and though I have never even seen him, I can't forget his existance.

In 1977, my mother gave her baby son in adoption. She thought that it was the best thing to do. Because she doesn't even know his name, I have christened him "Michael" here. She kept him a secret until I was a teenager. For some reason, Michael's existance hit me in a way I didn't expect. Now barely a day goes by that I don't wonder where he is, how he's doing, if he's okay. I don't know if he's religious, if he's in a good home, or anything. All I can do is pray that he'll be okay, and that we'll meet someday in heaven. And I hope, wherever he is, that he's loved.
