My loving husband, companion, my heart fighting an addiction

My husband's hurting soul,I am afraid, is lost in an addiction and hopelessly trapped by his anger at God.

Just recently my husband has come face-to-face with a relapsed drug addiction. He says he wants to stop. He is going to NA meetings and I have begun Al-anon meetings. With a 19 year on/off drug association to over-come we are facing an up-hill battle.

In our meetings we have been introduced to the 12-Steps used in recovery. He has read them and his group reads them at each meeting, but he says he doesn't understand them. NA groups promote a relationship with a Higher Power. He says his anger and hate prevents him from following these steps because, even though its not stated, the Higher Power to turn to is God. He won't turn even after being told he has to make it in order to have a chance at recovery. God doesn't have a place for him, he says and he doesn't have a place for God. I can't make him understand that his lack of God is the reason for his heartaches.

His anger is so great that I'm afraid he will never see God's benefits or an end to this illness.
