My 6 year old daughter

A child of the Lord but where do I go wrong as a parent. In need of spiritual guidance for parenting.

I am a widow of two years who just got remarried; my trouble is with my 6 year old and her stepfather. They both love each other but there seems to be major tension in the house due to the fact that my daughter only wants to listen to adults when she wants to. I believe in spanking (I am a better person for it!) but I feel like we are on her case morning, noon and night. I get notes home from the kindergarten teacher at least three times a week. She is loving one min. and smacking you the next. I am 35 and feel some days like I have lost control of everything I am trying to accomplish: Family, Faith, Love and Respect. I want to leave a great child in this world when I go not like a lot of the children today that do not respect their elders.

	myangelKirsten 11/18/2002 16:43	Dear Taylor's Mom, I hope things are improving for you and your family. I am also the mother of a very wilfull 6 year old. The best advice I can offer is setting limits and sticking to them. Once she realizes that you are not going to give in then her behaviour may change. Could she still be grieving the death of her father and is acting out? Perhaps grief counselling what be good for her. I don't know all the answers but will pray for you and Taylor, you sound like a good Mom just trying to raise a good girl. May God Bless you.
