Holy Father above, hear my supplication and prayer for Drew. Surround him with your love and protection, beneath him, above him, beside him, behind him and in in front of him. Be with Drew and his family to comfort and uplift them all, holding them all in your loving outstretched arms. Work in Drew a healing from his injury, relief from his pain and strength to be up and around quickly. Calm Drews fears and those of his family, bring down your grace and your all encompassing peace to them. We know of your ability to work miracles in our lives and we now pray that you will work a miracle in Drew's life, that he may serve you here on earth. He is needed, LORD, by his family and his friends to work your mission here upon these earthly bounds. Reach out, dear LORD, touch Drew with your healing hands and return him to his family. We pray this prayer in Jesus' Holy Name. Amen

Sept 30 info
The family met with the doctor today at 4 pm. Not a lot of new info. Doctor is "cautiously optimistic". They are slowing weaning Drew off all the sedation so they can take the ventilator out. Hopefully that will
happen within the next two days. Once Drew is alert and can talk, they can
better assess any neurological damage. Earlier today they tried to decrease
the sedation too quickly and Drew got very agitated and was thrashing about.
They had to put arm restraints on him to try and keep him quiet. He
obviously wants OUT! These are all good signs. Steve says his color looks
good too and he is moving all extremities. Keep your prayers and positive thoughts coming. I agree with Beth about keeping phone calls to the family to a minimum--too stressful to constantly rehash things, especially with the slow progress.

Oct 1

The doctors tried to close the drain which is removing the excess brain fluid today, but there was too much cranial pressure build up so the drain was re-opened. They are still keeping Drew sedated, but have switched to a "weaker" medication which appears to be keeping him less agitated, and will supposedly allow him to come out of the sedation a little more calmly than the other medication would have. He has a higher fever today and so they are treating for infection. He is basically breathing on his own now, but they have left the ventilator in to allow them to remove any liquid in his lungs. The ventilator will have to stay in place until he is conscious and able to cough up any excess lung fluids on his own. The process of weaning him off the sedation may take a little longer than we were all hoping, but as one nurse put it "he just needs to sleep a little longer". He is still responding to instructions, but seems calmer today. More news as we get it (which might not be daily, if there aren't big changes to report). Keep those prayers coming!

Lord keep the progress coming and give strength to the family and friends,

Father,
Weell, here I am again, but I can't think of a better place to be. It feels so safe in Your presence. And as You know, I'm asking You to intervene on Drew's and his family's behalf. I know what it's like to be in all of their shoes, and it is only thru Your love, and Your mercy that we're still here. I thank You for that.
I saw how my family suffered when I was near death, and Father, it hurt them a lot more than it hurt me. But You brought me back as a living testimony to all who know me, and Lord, I am grateful to You for that. And thank you Jesus for loving us enough to come here on earth as a tiny baby, who was placed in a feeding trough, because there was nowhere else to place You. Thank you so very much for letting Yourself be tempted more than any of us, and for being beaten so mercilessly, and hung on that cross, so You could be a sin sacrifice for all of us, even though You Yourself were without sin.
But in so doing, You freed us from the bondage of the law of sin, and gave us freedom to worship You when You established the new Covenant.
Thank you for showing us where there is victory over opppression when we tell You that we're sorry for hurting others, and for disappointing You and our Father, and joyously accepting us as Your brothers and sisters, and as Your little ones, Father.
And thank You, Holy Spirit for enabling us to cast away our old, selfish ways, and to turn them into love for one another.
Now, it is with thanksgiving that I admonish You to bring Drew back to his family and friends whole, as a living testimony to You.
We love You Lord, but not as much as You love us.
From,
One of your little kids. -----AMEN

Drew is out of ICU. He is able to talk and remember where he went to high school and starting college. He has no fever. He still needs to make more progress to be how he was. He is still in the hospital.
