September 11th
In Memory of Those Who Died

From the earliest hours of last year's tragedy, there seemed to be a universal impulse to gather together to express our shock and grief -- whether in houses of worship, town squares, online, or in groups of family & friends. As we struggle now, a year later, to find ways to properly honor this sad anniversary, we invite people of every faith -- and none -- to use this space as you see fit. To honor the memory of those who lost their lives on 9/11, to offer thoughts and prayers for the families, friends, and loved ones of the victims, to recognize those who were involved in the recovery and clean-up efforts at Ground Zero, to share your prayers for peace, strength, wisdom, or guidance -- for our nation and for the world.

When I was searching the Web for quotes about heros for my website, they seemed to be few and far between. So I made up my own, offered herewith for your consideration: "Who then is this hero? He is common man who, seeing his neighbor's distress, rushes in without thought for his own time, treasure, or life; throwing himself into a battle he chose not, for another he may never know, with outcomes he cannot foresee. This is why we love him. He is everyman, ennobled and made righteous by a greater love, the avatar of a compassionate God of self-sacrifice." - Forrest Lee Horn

Thanks to all who help clean up and helped the ones who were hurting. In many ways most the world pulled together to help and express compassion.
We had many "heros"

As for everyone, 9/11 was a horribly sad day for me. I was at the airport in Portland Maine getting ready to leave for CA. when the Pentagon was hit. I was busy packing for my trip in the morning that I never knew anything had happened before I got to the airport. They unknowingly booked me on a flight for the next day not knowing the seriousness of the event. My friends and family knew I was leaving that day and a flood of calls were on my cell phone wondering if I were alright. I made it home in "fog" state of mind. I remeber the eerie silence of that week. People grieving and the silence of no planes in the air. I cried all week just in time to stop long enough to start again when we as a nation came together to light candles at 7pm that friday evening. I had no one directly lost in the 9/11 tragedy but I felt so much pain for everyone else. So yes, I say a prayer for the people of 9/11.....may the survivors someday know peace and may the Angels always be with those who perished.

Dear Lord,
Please comfort the hearts of all those that lost loved ones as this first anniversary will bring back the memories of the awful tragedy that occured that day. Please assure them that their loved ones are in a better place where there is no more pain, nor tears, nor sickness. Help them to rejoice in that thought. I pray for the safety of our nation as this day draws near. Protect us from the evil terrorists that plan destruction for our people. May their plans be found out before they attempt any evil action against us. Give us peace and protect us from all danger. I pray for Israel that they too may find peace from the terrorists that hate them. I pray all this in the wonderful name of Your Son Jesus. Amen.

GOD OUR FATHER, WE BLESS YOU FOR HAVING CALLED US TO KNOW YOU, TO LOVE YOU AND TO LIVE WITH YOU. YOU SENT YOUR BELOVED SON, YOUR PERFECT IMAGE AND THE REFLECTION OF YOUR FACE; HE BECAME LIKE US IN ALL THINGS BUT SIN. IN HIM YOU PROCLAIMED THE GOOD NEWS OF YOUR KINGDOM; YOU FORGIVE OUR OFFENSES AND HEAL OUR WOUNDS. KEEP US IN THE COMMUNION OF YOUR SON; KEEP US ALERT AS WE WAIT FOR THE DAY OF HIS COMING. GIVE US YOUR PEACE, SO THAT WE CAN COMMUNICATE IT TO ONE ANOTHER IN MUTUAL LOVE, AND SERVE THE HUMAN FAMILY. JESUS THE LORD IS COMING.

HERE IS A NICE PRAYER FOR ALL; GOD I AM NOT SURE WHERE I AM GOING. I DO NOT SEE THE ROAD AHEAD. I CANNOT BE CERTAIN WHERE IT WILL END. I DO NOT REALLY KNOW MYSELF. SOMETIMES I FOOL MYSELF PRETENDING TO FOLLOW YOUR WILL YET KNOWING I AM NOT. BUT I BELIEVE THIS
THAT THE DESIRE TO PLEASE YOU DOES IT FACT PLEASE YOU. I HOPE I HAVE THE DESIRE IN EVERYTHING I DO. AND I KNOW THAT IF I DO THIS YOU WILL LEAD ME BY THE RIGHT ROAD THOUGH I MAY NOT KNOW IT
AT THE TIME. THEREFORE I WILL TRUST YOU ALWAYS; AND, WHEN I MAY SEEM TO BE LOST, I WILL NEVER BE AFRAID BECAUSE I KNOW YOU WILL NEVER LEAVE ME TO FACE MY TROUBLES ALONE. THANK-YOU DEAR GOD FOR ALL THAT YOU HAVE GIVEN ME, FOR ALL THAT YOU HAVE TAKEN FROM ME, FOR ALL YOU HAVE LEFT ME. AMEN GOD BE WILL ALL OF US AFG 1986

Heavenly Father,
Please watch over all those that lost loved ones during the act of terror and to those who lost loved ones trying to save those that had been injured due to the terrible act of terrorism. Please send angels to watch over all that need them as we come to the first anniversary of this terrible act of terrorism. Thank You God for being their to envelop Your children as they came to You after this terrible tragedy.
I pray that peace may come for those that have been so hurt and have had to carry a terrible load this past year. God Bless All the HEROES that came together and tried to save as many as they could and gave their lives while trying to do it. Words cannot express the gratitude and love that wash over me everytime I close my eyes and see that awful day. Thank you all and God Bless America. I pray terrorism will be stopped and we can come together as a whole one day and share our world together, I leave that miracle in the Hands of our Heavenly Father. We ask this in Jesus's name. Thank You for all you have done and continue to do. AMEN.

FEAR

Fear keeps you from enjoying what you have today because of focusing too much about what tomorrow may bring

Death is the ultimate mortal demise which corresponds with our greatest apprehension while living

So I want to live today to the fullest, once again roll in the grass as a child, have a bee sting and my mother comfort me, have a water fight with some friends, grill some burgers by a lake, view a rainbow while climbing a mountain in the rain, dance in the streets on the 4th of July while watching the fireworks and say "wow", tell everyone that I love "I love you", watch the Super Bowl with some friends and root for the home team, call a friend who I haven't spoken to for a while, dust off old family pictures that make me smile, hear my favorite songs on the "oldies station", watch "The Wizard of Oz" one more time and hear Dorothy sing "Somewhere over the Rainbow" and tell us "there is no place like home", I want to say a prayer thanking God for all my blessings, family and special times of life. Realize there is no gurantee of a tomorrow, one more hour or even another minute as I stand here on the top floor of the World Trade Center on September 11th trembling, scared, as smoke and flames surround me reaching up as far as I can see as I fall to my knees praying for God to help me.
My hands, my arms, my legs are no longer part of me as I feel lost not knowing where I am going and fear for a moment overtakes my soul my final second on earth; however, by the grace of God I have just enough time to recall the ending of Psalms 23

"...Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me.
You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies.
You anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows.
Surely goodness and mercy will follow me all the days of my life,
and I will dwell in the house of the LORD forever."

"For I know the plans I have for you," declares the Lord, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future." Jeremiah 29:11

I pray God that you will ease the pain of the survivors and victims, for even a moment, tomorrow. Lord, give them badly needed peace. 9-11 could be our finest hour, as long as we don't let our hope, love, and respect die. I am proud to be associated with emergency services and I am proud of my brothers and sisters who lost their lives. They never looked back, but ran straight into that smoky, firey hell. Everyone should take time to honor their veterans and loved ones tomorrow. Why? Because you never know what the future holds for any of us. Thanks God for taking care of us all. Amen.

Bless those left behind who've lost loved ones in the past year because of this horrific event. Bless the ones the world lost on this fateful day and bring their loved ones peace as they, along with the rest of a grateful nation, honor the courage of and the sacrifices made by their loved ones. Bless and protect those who've continued their unselfish service to our nation by protecting us from harm's way, despite the new dangers that they now face.

Amen.

I don't want to sound heartless but I feel we have heard enough of this 9-11. I lost both my sons and they didn't get all of this. Yes,this was a bad thing but lets move on....I had to. Enough already!

I would just like to say there are times I ask myself why have I brought children into this cruel, evil world? The answer that makes me feel better about me decision is they the children are the future. My future, our future.I pray for all of those that were lost on that heartbreaking day.I cried too,as I held my 4month old daughter, knowing that I would not know what I would do .Then I thought of all the angels that went to Heaven, that did make me smile just knowing their are more around. We never know when,or where our day will end,or how but im a firm believer in a blink on an eye all can be lost.Just be goodto each other, try to love one another, life is too short.May God bless them all.

Let’s Roll
Todd Beamer’s Prayer ?

We are men of God suspended in air
swallowing our fear, as we recite the Lord’s prayer.
We trust Holy Father that your will be done
as we muster our courage to lunge for the guns
of the terrorists who have high jacked this plane,
if we fail in our mission, our deaths won’t be in vain.
Valor or cowardice either way we face death
if we die, we give you glory with our last breath.

We all have families whom we deeply love
and entrust them to your care, oh God, from above.
If it’s our time to join you please help ease their grief
hold them tightly in your hand and increase their belief.
Teach them to trust and your name to extol
our lives are in your hands, “come on men, Let’s Roll.”

Our Precious Lord Jesus Christ,

On this day I pray for all of America, for everyone in this country was affected by the tragic events of 09/11/01. I lift up the family members of every person that fell prey to this heinous crime. I lift up all of the innocent children who lost parent's on this tragic day. I pray that you will comfort these children. I pray for the children who did not loose a family member, but were affected nonetheless, because their sense of security in their own home was mercilessly taken away from them. I look back over the past year, and remember the questions of my three young children, and I grieve for all of the children in the country. Lord, I pray that you will comfort them, help them always to know that they are safe and secure in You. For all the families involved, I pray that you will send angels to camp round about them, to comfort them, to hold them. I pray for a hedge of protection around this great nation, and I also pray that we never forget why we are so great, and that is because of you. On this day, my prayer is America, Bless God. Cindi

Dear Heavenly Father,
On this somber day of remembrance, please watch over all the families and friends of those who lost their life on that horrific day, Sept 11, 2001. Please protect and watch over the children who lost their parents/parent. Please watch over the FDNY, paramedics, PAs, and NYPD. They need your love and guidance on this horrible anniversary. What all of us need is comfort, for your Word, the Bible, states that you will comfort those in need and grief. Please bless all of us with your grand comfort. I ask this in your Son's name, Jesus Christ.
To all the friends and families of 9/11, my heart and prayers go out to you.
Your sister,
Jeanyves
