For people of any race or religion who find themselves discriminated against for painfully illogical reasons...

Many people stumble on discrimination and even after it is long past, it leaves a wound that aches. Whether you want to pray for an end to all this, or to simply vent pent-up frustration, you are welcome here.

Does it matter whether we are Jew or Gentile? Muslim or Buddhist? Black or white? Sacred book after sacred book has commanded that all people be treated as the much-loved children of God - and yet ignorance sets up cruel barriers in schools and at work. Sometimes, no matter how willing you are to understand the religion or race that is dominant around you, your efforts are treated as filth or, even worse, as a scandal. Whether you pray to Allah or Shiva, Jesus Christ or Jehovah, your extended hand and heartfelt prayers will be welcomed by anyone in an unhappy situation...as I once was. While you browse this site, take a look at another faith that interests you. Learn a few facts. It is such a small step to understanding your neighbours...and you will appreciate this gesture, even if no one else seems too. Above all remember that not all people of a particular race or creed are bad, even if they hurt you - there are plenty of people in the world who make all the effort and pain you have to endure worthwhile!

	ManateeClaw3 10/11/2003 23:10	Please help me to be willing to let go of the fear that keeps me apart from others, to lose the fear in which I say "But I'm different than them so I'll keep my distance." Today, about a year after the hate crime that ended the life of 17-year-old Gwen Araujo in San Francisco, please help us to not hate or seek to hurt those we fear or do not understand. Help us to extend and receive love and compassion free of condescension, self-righteousness, or hypocrisy. This is hard and I can't do it without Your help. Help me and all of us reach out and beyond fear of rejection across the manmade distinctions of race, sexual orientation, religion or philosophy. Help me see that the fear that I was taught a long time ago or continue to carry is not what You want or how I have to continue to believe. In your time, help me and all of us be healed of fear as we enjoy the life You have given us all.
