I want to give thanks to my dad today. I am grateful for him and the struggles he has gone through in his life to be a good person and to be a good dad. I am grateful to have his sense of humor and his curious mind. I am grateful I look like his side of the family, and that I share his sweet nature. I am grateful he was interested in me and cared for me and showed me love throughout my childhood. I love my dad. |

I want to express gratitude this day for a spiritual experience I had yesterday. Most liberal Jews do not fast for the small fast days dealing with the Temple, since many liberal Jews do not wish for the Temple to be rebuilt, and neither do I. However, I have known about them since my conversion 8 years ago. And I always wondered if I could make those days meaninful to me in other ways. So yesterday (17 Tammuz) I set out to fast and pray. And decided to focus on fasting and prayer for the comfort and strength of all those in Israel struggling with the suicide attacks. And it was a very uplifting experience. I spent some of my time reading and pondering the situation and making decisions about how I felt about it and how I could help. And I am so graterul to have done this. The experience has really enriched me. |

Thank you, Eternal Father, for watching over us every moment of our lives, for being there even in our darkest hour, for giving us hope and strength. Help us to remember that you never promised that our life would not have challenges, but only that you would be there when those challenges arose. Help us always to remember to turn to you, in good times and in bad. You are our strength. You are our hope. You are our peace. Amen |
