a prayer for the persecuted

the world has a hard time accepting those of us who love differently, worship differently, or have a different color skin. let us pray for an end to the hatred and hurt.

For all those who face discrimination for any reason -- race, religion, sexual orientation, ... -- may the Divine give us strength to stay strong and positive in the face of hate, and tolerance to meet our enemies with love and forgiveness, for bitterness and anger only destroy. May the Divine also grant understanding to those who persecute us, that they may see that we are all brothers and sisters and we are all made in the image of the Divine.

Please offer a prayer for your own needs, or for the needs of your persecuted brothers and sisters.

Bigotry and hate stem from fear and ignorance. I pray to the Divine to grant us the strength to stand against our fears and the fears of others, and the wisdom to embrace enlightenment for ourselves, for knowledge is ever the enemy of fear; and I pray we have the courage to share the knowledge, to light the dark places and banish ignorance, and to forgive when others flee the light, for once we too dwelt in darkness. May the blessings of the Divine be upon us. --Penthesilea
