Barb P
I am pleading for your help

I am in terrible financial trouble and need your prayers in a big way.

Please pray that I may find employment to keep my mom's home and straighten out the financial disasters I caused by being addicted to a drug. I have been looking for a job for a long time and haven't had any luck. I also am fighting an addiction, which I also ask for your prayers that I can remain clean from it. I am a "baby Christian", coming back to The Lord after many years of allowing Satan to control my life. I know that I cannot do it-God, through Jesus Christ has to, and I need all the prayers I can get! Thank you all so much. I lost my dear mom last year, and my world fell apart almost overnight.

Dear Barb, In the book of Genesis you will read a story about a woman named Hagar. She went through some pretty horrible stuff. Eventually she was cast out into the desert. There, alone and rejected, God met her. He came to her with promise of life. The Hebrew name she used of God was "El Roi" which means "The God Who Sees". God does see us today in our places of despair even as He saw Hagar those many years ago. God never changes. He is here with His mercy, love and grace for you today just as He was for Hagar. He sees you, Barb. He has the promise of life in His Word. Read the book of John. Learn about our precious Savior and you will be encouraged to make the right choices. As you begin to obey Jesus, you will begin to know God better. You will understand His will for you. Be patient. I know it's hard sometimes, but trust that God knows what He is doing. He loves you so very much!
Dear Heavenly Father, i ask that you fill Barb with your Holy Spirit. I ask that you grant her peace and patience. Fill the void in her heart with your love. Put her world back together Jesus as she puts you in the center of it. Help her to know you. Give her today exactly what she needs for this day. Put some good Christian people in her life to encourage her and help her through this frightening time in her life. Let her know that you are "The God Who Sees." In Jesus Name, Amen

Dear Barb, Leah's words are inspiring. I too fight my demons every day, but not drug addiction. That you are looking to Jesus for help is surely a wise step. I have come to believe that, while God will take care of us if we ask him to, he will only enrich your life with his grace and power when you take the time and make the effort to be with Him as much as you can. Pray everyday in as many ways as you can. Read the Bible for a period every morning then pray for five minutes. Pray while you are on the bus, as you climb stairs, at any time. No topic is too mundane to bring to the Lord. Never forget to praise him! You wake up each morning! Take a deep breath and praise him. You live in the USA not another country where you must walk everywhere on dusty roads, wear heavy clothes, cook over a fire and never be allowed to express you own opinion. Praise him! You can walk and without pain. Praise him! Also, pray for others and, even in your difficult situation, try to help others if it is only a compliment to a harried grocery clerk with whom another customer was curt. Help an old woman load her groceries. Etc. Finally, God's help often comes in the form of new ideas which form in your head. Be especially aware of this. IF you've been praying and suddenly an idea which might help you occurs to you, give God the credit.

Finally, put yourself in the way of good people. If you haven't been to church, go. You may feel awkward, but go. If you like the minister, make an appointment to talk with him and tell him as much or as little as you like to the end of getting more involved within the circle of good people at that church. You may need to attend two or three churches before you feel at home. Remember, almmost never is any church a perfect fit, because we are all such individuals. God speed! ssg4444
