world peace
protection against evil

Please pray for world peace and protection against evil in the world and in our hearts

Hail Mary full of grace the Lord is with thee. Blessed art thou among women and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary mother of God pray for us now and at the hour of our death.

Our father who art in heaven hallowed be thy name . Thy kingdom come thy will be done , on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those that trespass against us, and lead us not into tempation, but deliver us from evil, Amen.

I am scared. I am alone in person. But know you are with me each day. Please guide and protect us. May your power over ride the horror that we are in today. Praise the Lord.

Father, we your children are frightened by the evil loose in the world, and by our own vulnerability and the fragility of life. Help us to not succumb to our fears and anxieties. Help us to remember the prayerful message of the 27th Psalm: "The Lord is my light and my salvation, whom shall I fear? The Lord is the stronghold of my life, of whom shall I be afraid?..Though a host encamp against me, my heart shall not fear; though war arise against me, yet I will be confident....Wait for the Lord; be strong, and let your heart take courage; yea, wait for the Lord!" Let us remember also the words of Your Son, our Savior Jesus Christ, in John 16:33 : "In the world you have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world." Lord, with You at our side and in our hearts, we should not fear, but we are small and weak and are very much feeling our vulnerability just now. Remind us of Your presence, and bless us with Your strength. Lead us on the path to peace. Help us to be compassionate and supportive of one another, even as You support and love us. May our steps always be guided by You, may the pain in our hearts be consoled by Your divine love, and may You continually bless and keep us in the palm of Your hand. Thank you, Jesus. Amen.

This is a letter I sent to a buddy of mine in response to a beautiful candlelit message he sent me. I hope you are moved by its message:

I thought I would share this with you mate.

At school I have a homeroom where you know, we meet in the morning, check absences, say morning prayer etc. Two weeks ago..that is last Monday week, when we were all still shell shocked about what happened to "all of us" at the World Trade Centre, I told my kids (there are 19 in this group) that we could all be involved in the fight agains the evil which is causing the terror and uncertainty that we are experiencing. I told them that they are such good kids.. so filled with goodness and that we needed to combine all of OUR GOODNESS to pray for the evil in the world to be defeated. I said that while the powers that be do the plotting and planning they need to do, we could engage in our own battle.

So I put a candlebra with 5 candles in the middle of the room and we arrange our chairs in a circle around it. On Mondays we light one candle, on Tuesdays, we light two ... and so on. Now these kids are 12, 13 and 14 years old; just ordinary kids but it is possible, even in a cynical world such as this, to inspire them just by coming down to their level. Kids need to be reminded that they are GOOD and will always live up to that expectation I find. So my kids and I sit each morning, holding hands and uniting our combined goodness with all the goodness in the world as we focus on the lit candle which represents that goodness and its connection with God. We pray the Lord's Prayer and a Hail Mary; then we do our own prayer in silence for a few seconds.

I told them when we started this morning ritual that if I was not there for any reason they had to carry on with it as though I was and had to tell any relief teacher that this is what we do. Anyway, yesterday I was delayed getting to homeroom after an assembly we had and when I got there................... the room was silent and they were sitting in a circle around the candles which they had lit, holding hands, praying.......... it almost made me cry to see that they were doing exactly what I had said..... battling evil with their own goodness. Now I pray that they never lose sight of the goodness which they are now in touch with.. and I thank God for allowing them to be so touched.

It makes me sad to hear that in the United States prayer is not permitted. One of my buddies told me that where he comes from in Greenville SC, prayer was banned back when he was a kid which means back in the 60's or early 70's. You guys in the US need to band together and change this...... I cannot believe that in a country where freedom of speech is supposed to be fact and something that is not only respected, but cherished this "NO PRAYER" in schools stuff actually happens. Maybe, Ron you should pass my letter on and ask others to pass it on until attitudes begin to change in a world which has been changed forever. The combined goodness of all of us who watched in horror and helplessness at the suffering on September 11 is a force to be reckoned with. Ignore the cynics...... they will never be convinced by human influence alone.

So mate.. pray on and know that here in the Land of the Southern Cross we pray for all of you and all of us as well..... May God protect us all, comfort the grieving and bring an end to the evil which causes the brand of death and destruction we lived to witness.

God is good....

God bless you mate...
Jenny

Dear God,
How much we need Your help right now. Protect our country and it's people from future terrorist attacks. Bring the people of our nation and the world closer to You, especially during this fearful time. Also, dear Lord, come into the minds and the hearts of all these terrorists who roam through the world seeking destruction.Rid their minds and their souls of this intense evil which has taken hold of them, and bring them back to you, Dear Lord. You are the Good Shepard and all are Your children. Protect the world from the ravages of sin and evil and bring all Your children closer to you as we begin to fight this war on terrorism. Keep us strong in our faith and in our love for one another, dear Lord, and help us to see our neighbor in a different light so that we might help others more then ever before. Guide us, Holy Spirit, on this quest. Keep our world safe and secure, if it be Your Holy Will. Also, Lord, so many thousands need to be fed in Afghanistan. Feed them as you fed the thousands when you divided the loaves and fish. Give these refugees love, warmth, and support as they flee their country in terror at this time. We need you so very much, dear God. Please be close to each of us, your children. This I pray. Amen.......

Eternal Father, I offer the body and blood, soul and divinity of your Son, Jesus Christ, in reparation for our sins and those of the whole world.

For the sake of His sorrowful passion, have mercy on us and on the whole world!
