father light this dark place of addiction this couple live in father we know you have the power to raise them from this father please touch them when they are so lost in the lonely place this addiction holds them. father touch them now so that they may feel your comfort and forgiveness let them have your strength for you are strong and we are weak father with your strength we do not have to be bound by any such thing that is why we are so thankful for your son jesus christ that we may be saved from what the world throws at us father heal them as we cast out the demons in jesus name amen

I completely understand your situation and feeling of hopelessness. I have a boyfriend addicted to herion that has also used since he was about 16. He is now 53 with many attempts at recovery but always ending up using again. As you know..typical addict behavior. My situation is somewhat different in that I too am an addict, a crack cocaine addict. We never used together but we had to separate.I moved back to my parents in a nearby state and tried to stay clean. Of course I used again, and again, and again. Relocation is never a treatment for any disease. I am a binge user who completely disappears out of site for anywhere from 3 to 14 days at a time using drugs and living as many addicts do. Out there in dangerous environments doing anything and everything to get the next fix, not eating or sleeping the whole time. When I am exhausted and sick,(and not in jail)I return to my upper middle-class parents' home. I then go through the redicule,tears,disappointment, reprocussions and depression of myself AND my family again.It is devistating to the addict as well as those who love them. Hope, recovery, peace and freedom become foreign words in all our lives. It is a true gift of God that we are still alive. My boyfriend is a daily herion user. We always pray and pray.God is always with us. He must be, and he must have a plan for us because God would never want his children to continue to live or die in addiction. That is OUR choice. Man is given choices but God never expects us to go through our pain alone. He is there for us to reach out to and He expects us to be there for each other as long as we do not put ourselves in harms way.NA can serve that purpose if our loved ones feel harmed, hurt and the pain of which us addicts cause them. We must not casually look to God for healing if we are not willing to cultivate our relationship with God and build our spirituality on a consistant, everyday basis. Also a necessity is a recovery program to stick with NO MATTER WHAT. NA and other recover programs DO WORK but only with complete vigilence, didication and FAITH. I know that NA guarantees recovery if one follows the suggestions and the path of other successful recovering addicts but GOD IS A MUST! I completely believe this. Many times families lose faith and hope, and are tired of being hurt themselves, so they distance themselves as far away as possible. Tough love is what they call it. It helps the addict not to have enablers, allowing the cycle to continue, but the addict only feels abandonment,dispare, and hopelessness. The enabeler may be the only person they feel LOVES them unconditionally. It is a very difficult situation for both parties.NA and GOD will not enable but will continue to always be there until the addict can finally prove to themselves as well as their loved ones that it's ok to be an active part of their lives...sober! Don't get me wrong, I am not an advocate for NA, but I am only able to speak on what I have experienced and what has worked for me in the past. Any recovery program works if you stay with it.
I pray for you, your husband, myself, my boyfriend and all others suffering from any form of addiction and all those affected by this horrible disease. May God fill your heart with patience, love and faith in yourself. May God protect and speak not only in whispers but in explosive song and guidence for all of us to hear. May God put another human being into our lives to help us in our recovery, and Lord, help us to be "still" long enough to see and hear them in our presence. Thank your Lord for your forgiveness and bless us in forgiving ourselves. Only with you Lord Jesus Christ, will we defeat this Devil and his mission to kill and destroy all love and life. Thank You for the chance and choice to LIVE! May we walk in your footsteps and choose the path of rightousness.
