carol, my thoughts are with you. I quit smoking at the end of January and it's been very difficult, I won't lie to you. If I found out tomorrow it was not unhealthy I would be tempted to start back up in a heartbeat. Even that I would consider weakness however, because my dependence was not just physical, but emotional, and I think for me that is what's particulary unhealthy about it.

Despite this being one of the hardest things I've ever done (and continue to do--quitting is a daily decision), I do feel much better. In mind, body, and spirit.

Dear Carol - I am not very good at praying, but I quit smoking three years ago, so I know what you suffer. Perhaps this will help: whenever you think that you can't endure it any longer tkae a deep breath and ask for the strength to get past this one cigaret. Just this one. The request will be granted. One at a time. Bless you.

Carol I would love to share my testamony with you, as I have been smoke free for more than 20 years. I was once a smoke addict, and like many who smoke I thought I would never be free. When I gave my life to Christ I wanted all extieror signs that I was in sin to be gone. I prayed about my habit for 6months and felt totaly hopeless. Then one day I was out of smokes' and out of money. I was afraid I would have a fit so I went to my room and began reading a book about some basic christian doctrin, and I prayed this prayer; Dear Lord I am hopelessly adicted to smoking, but as you can see I am out, and I have no money. Please keep me from haveig a fit untill I can go borrow some money to buy some mors smokes. Suddenly my room filled with Christs Holy presence and he touched me in the chest. I felt it just a tap, but I knew at that moment I would never smoke again. You see when we give ourselves in pure honesty to Jesus he is able to give us what strength we need from himself. Even Jesus said of myself I can do nothing, but with God all things are possible. My prayer for you is that he gives you this gift of smoke free liveng.Bless you, and try this when you want a smoke reach for His word instead and don't beat yourself up. he is your ever present help in trouble. Carol, you have my prayers. I was a career smoker, and knew that the only way I'd be able to quit would be illness. I got pneumonia, and thought I was dying. I had prayed for years about this horrible habit, and when HE answered my prayer HE made sure I got the message loud & clear! I'd never dare smoke again after receiving a blessing from the Lord.

Hi Carol, my prayers are with you. I am also struggling with my addiction to smoking. Only recently have I begun to understand that the Lord really can help us and heal us and give us the strength to succeed in conquering this addiction. I am now in the process of getting back in touch with my faith after many years of being out of touch. I have not yet experienced anything as miraculous as the others who have replied, but then again I have only just begun to rebuild. I went to church for the first time in years this past Sunday. Our Pastor's sermon had to do with giving to others in the name of Jesus, whether it be money, a favor, a shoulder to cry on, a simple hello, or giving your prayers to those who need them. I'll pray for you and with you - it's hard for both of us and all others like us, but I know we can do it and so does the Lord. God belss you!
