Letter to America

The victim’s families ask why it was their loved ones had to die.
The victims probably thought it was an ordinary day before the disaster. I did. They were only earning a living, paying their mortgages, and getting through life the best, they could like the rest of us.

I cannot help but wonder what the impact of September 11, 2001 will have on all of us.

On the radio, I hear men and women are enlisting in the Armed Services by the thousands. American flags, in all sizes, proudly fly just about everywhere.

What amazes me, people from other countries will continue to sacrifice their lives and come to America even after this tragedy. Perhaps it’s because in America, one can be anyone one wishes . . . it’s a place where one can make his own destiny.

In closing, I want everyone to know, we all make a difference, and all life is precious. We are all connected in one way or another, and I think we need to know that right now, more than ever.

Let us all use this tragedy to re-evaluate what we put as priorities in our lives. Let us see fellow human beings simply as other human beings, united under One, not divided by race or religion. Let us try to deal with this situation with patience, understanding, and tolerance.
