Gadadhar Das
Conversion to Hinduism

Gadadhar Das received his Hindu name, and publically taking Hinduism as his religion.

Gadadhar, after much spiritual searching, has found a religion that he can call home. He is drawn to Hinduism because it does not ask one to simply believe a set of dogmas but rather to experience God for oneself.

Please permit me to ask a question, and this is asked in sincerity.

It is my understanding that one cannot "convert" to Hinduism in the same sense that one may convert to one of the Abrahamic faiths. I have read that one is either born into Hinduism or is totally outside of this faith. I have been further informed that conversions to Hinduism from the "outside" are not generally accepted as valid by the general Hindu community.
Please educate me on this matter.

Hello People,

Hinduism is not a religion...its a way of life. You do not have to have an Indian name to be called a hindu. The very core of Hinduism (from the vedas) points out that god is the formless.

"...god is nothing and everything at the same time..
...god is you and everyone around you..
...god cannot be attained through(any) religion..
...you are god mind you..
...god doesn't discriminate black from white..
...god is nothing..
...god is 'neither a he nor a she'..
...god is you..
...what you cannot see within yourself, cannot be seen elsewhere..

God cannot be a religion or a name. You could be most anti-religious and still be godly. You could be most religious and still be ungodly. Even anti is god...there is nothing that is god and nothing that isn't god.

I can promise you that the hindu holy scripture "Gita", reveals that god is only one-fourth knowbale and three quarters unknowable.

There is no way any one can understand god completely..and call themselves human...its impossible.

...but human beings happen to hurt / jail / kill people for their own mis-explorations. I hope you don't misunderstand me to be a "communist"....I am too far for your knowledge. Why can't communism be a religion? ask yourself?

So why are we talking religion and dogmas....a communist in the opinion of god could be highly spiritual person.........."if only innocent human beings stop hurting people in the name of god"

I am not religious....I am godly (or atleast trying to get better at decent spiritual thinking).

Dear Jason,

The above passage isn't sarcasm, isn't hatred, isn't chaos...

welcome to the very fundamentals of hinduism...know thyself is god.

Namasthe Gadhadhar Das, Welcome aboard. To the vast Hindu Culture/religion. Hinduism is a way of life. It is CULTURE with hundreds of religions in it. It is not a organized religion like Islam or Christianity. There are two MOTHER CULTURES in the world. One is HINDUISM and another is JUDAISM. All western religions came from Judaism. All eastern religions came from Hinduism.
