Michael Braun
Bar Mitzvah

Hi, this is Michael. On Shabbat, June 30, 2001, I read from the Torah, chanted my haftarah, and led the Shacharit service.

My parsha was Chukat, and its haftarah is extremely longer than normal, over 30 verses. After finishing learning the haftarah, I learned the Maftir portion and Torah trop in one month. Because I still had a month left, I learned the Shacharit service, Shabbat Morning Kiddush, and the 6th and 7th aliyot. After a large amount of studying (mostly cramming in May), I was able to go up and 'do my thing'. Now I am relieved, but I am still continuing to read from the Torah, lead Shacharit, and participate in the Minyan.
