Leah Haworth
Sobriety Anniversary

This is my first year of sobriety. I am so excited. It has been a tough year but I have made it.

I can't believe I made it. I am totally here because of my Higher Power who I choose to call God. I joined a church a few weeks ago after going to it for a couple of months. I work a good, strong program and I know I have to continue to do so. The most important thing is that my daughters are proud of me. That means the world to me.

Happy Birthday on 2 years of soberity. It is so different for women to be drunks. Society demands more from us. We are somebody's mother, sister and daughter. I am overjoyed you found soberiety.
By ourselves we are drunks. With the help of the fellowship and with God's love and mercy we are alcoholics.

My sons were 9 and 2 when I first started going to AA. From one woman to another, it is worth the struggle. Sept '04, I celebrated 22 years and each one is as special and exciting as the first.

Hang in, God loves you and so do I.

Way to go! I agree w/ "byubayb" about women being the ones more is expected of than whoever/whatever else....But perhaps it is because we expect so much of ourselves, and often fall short of what we think we ought to be/do.... Let go of all the guilt, and just bask in the good that we are: women, strong, competent, nurturing (to ourselves as well as to others) You go girl! "I am woman; hear me roar!"
I, too am a recovering alcoholic, about 10 years sober now, and feeling good about it, and myself....although there are still many bridges to cross that I helped wreck when I recklessly was trying to swim upstream, against the current, floundering helplessly, hopelessly like so much debris....
I, too rejoice that I have faith in a higher power, a life-giving, renewing force beyond myself....
Life is such a gift....(that's why we call it the present) Keep unwrapping it one day at a time....
Love & peace to all ya'll; the destination is really in the journey, this thing we call life....
