Emilie Conroy
Independent Woman Again At Last

It might seem a little crazy to treat the ending of a marriage as a celebration, but in this instance there's nothing more suitable.

For eight years I stuck with a marriage that was slowly killing me and eroding my independence. Not until I had left what had become my prison did I fully understand what I had sacrificed--and more importantly, the wonderful opportunities that lay ahead for me. Oh no, there is nothing sad in this split, only a rediscovered confidence in myself and in the future. Here I reach out to you and assure you that yes, there is life after marriage.

And a better life! You have many good years ahead of you. Find out who you are -- it's exciting.

Part of my treating myself in a loving way was to learn to hold on to my independence before anything or anyone.
I learned this the hard way. In or out of any relationship I WILL BE INDEPENDENT and not lose myself in any way ever again. I would rather be alone. Anyone who wants a relationship with me must "delight" in the "fullness" of who I am. :)
