I saw you in 1994, 1995 and 4 years ago in St. Peter's Square. Now I sit here bereft at your loss, and a physical ache in my heart pervades. Thank you for your love, compassion, kindness and reaching out to all of us regardless of race, color and creed. I feel your loss deeply Holy Father and now have come to Rome to say goodbye to you and my heart is breaking. You are a Prince of Christ and now you've gone home to Him. Rest well, Holy Father. Heavenly Father, thank you for giving us this precious man for all these years. Rest well, good and faithful servant.....

This Pope meant a great deal to me. I have been grieving him as if he were my own father. I am Polish-American. His being Polish meant so much to the Polish people, you have no idea. I am not always in line with church teachings, but this man was a good man of faith. He was a special, wonderful man and a spectacular Pope. I know he is already enjoying his reward in heaven. I only pray that my Polish loved ones were able to be there to greet the man they loved so while they were here on earth. I can't explain my (some think) overly emotional reaction to his death but somehow I feel very connected to him. Looking at his face I always felt I could see inside to the pureness of his nature and his intent to go good and save souls. His intelligence, sense of humor, diplomacy, and outreach all crushed the "dumb Polack" moniker that cruel people seem to so happily apply to anyone of our descent. I loved him for so many reasons. His legacy is not only for Poles, but for all the lives he touched. Rest in peace and glory Karol!! Thank you for everything! I will never forget you! With deep love, your daughter in Christ, Annie

His Holiness has passed on into Eternity, but his deeds and unwavering devotion for the Church, its people, and the Faith will always be remembered. He was a breath of hope to all people, Catholic and non-Catholic alike. He was the Defender of the Faith, a strong leader, and a man of peace. He broke many barriers and brought people together in an effort of peaceful resolution and revolution in the face of imposed ideological and hostile rule. He will be missed. God bless John Paul II, thank you for your service and dedication; thank you for your example and stewardship; thank you for your leadership and faithfulness; thank you for your courage in representing those who had no voice! May the Lord bless you and keep you; go now and rest in peace.

All our love,

The Santos Family

When John Paul II died I was very sad but glad too, I was so sad because he died and we would not see him anymore but I was glad because he is now with God, but now I am happy because we won a great angel. I thank God because he did let me know him.

So then, my beloved, obedient as you have always been, not only when I am present but all the more now when I am absent, work out your salvation with fear and trembling. For God is the one who, for his good purpose, works in you both to desire and to work. Do everything without grumbling or questioning, that you may be blameless and innocent, children of God without blemish in the midst of a crooked and perverse generation, among whom you shine like lights in the world, as you hold on to the word of life, so that my boast for the day of Christ may be that I did not run in vain or labor in vain. But, even if I am poured out as a libation upon the sacrificial service of your faith, I rejoice and share my joy with all of you. In the same way you also should rejoice and share your joy with me. (Philippians 2.12-18)

I have fought the good fight; I have finished the race; I have kept the faith. From now on the crown of righteousness awaits me, which the Lord, the just judge, will award to me on that day, and not only to me, but to all who have longed for his appearance.
(2Timothy 4.6-8)

Requiem aeternam dona eis, Domine!
Et lux perpetua luceat eis.
A porta inferi.
Erue, Domine, animas eorum.
Requiescant in pace!
Amen.
Dominus vobiscum.
Et cum spiritu tuo.
Oremus:
O God, Who has deigned to raise to the pontifical dignity Thy servant, Pope
