Death and Disaster, a horrible waste --
One of the worst days our nation has
faced,
A world-famous landmark: the towering
twins,
Collapsing in ashes -- and nobody wins.

Some jump from high windows, some rush
down the stairs,
Some trapped -- no escape as the flame
spreads and flares.
The air thick with with smoke and
cascading debris
Makes victims and saviours unable to
see.

A run for one's life as their feet meet
the street,
'Tis a distance away to where air is
still sweet.
Hearts pounding, lungs bursting, legs
weary and weak,
Hands out to each other as safety they
seek.

Destruction and cruelty born out of hate
And pointing to doom, the cold finger of
fate,
But God can use even this horror for
good.
Uniting our country as nothing else
could.

Flags wave everywhere as you drive down
the street.
The strains of "The Star Spangled
Banner" are sweet.
The "God bless America" signs on display
Say we trust Him to help us and to Him
we pray.

So many still missing -- assumed to be
dead,
Now only a mem'ry in some loved one's
head,
And still work continues to seek for the
lost ---
The thousands of souls -- what a
terrible cost.

In memory of our lost brothers, sisters, mothers, fathers, grandparents, children, friends, emergency heros and fellow AMERICANS, I shed tears and ache for your peace in the midst of all that has been lost. We will never forget you.

Americans lost a piece of themselves the day our heroes in the twin towers, on the airplanes, and in the Pentagon died. God Bless these souls, their families, those of us who still live in fear.
God bless our military, our fearless leaders who are striving to protect us.
God bless our children. May my twins never have to witness the complete devastation as we have when they are grown.

Billy McGovern rest in peace. We all miss you.
