Father Francis Grogen
A Beloved Priest who Taught The Wonderful Message Of Angels

Father Grogen was a priest in the Fall River Diocese in Massachusetts. He was on United Airlines Flight 175 Boston to Los Angeles on Tuesday September 11, 2001. That plane was the second to crash into the WTC. He was very loved.

I only knew Father Grogen because he spoke Mass a few times at my church. I remembered him because he spoke of Angels. He would say how he named his Guardian Angel, and encouraged others to do so. He made Mass entertaining and rewarding. He and his angel now have gone on to the best place God can offer us all. I only hope that his memory may live on in the hearts of all who knew him, even if not personally. I am sorry to say that I do not know much about Father Grogen and his lifetime accomplishments. If anyone does, and would like to contribute, please feel free to post.
MAY YOU NOT FORGET THE INFINITE
POSSIBILITIES THAT
ARE BORN ON FAITH
MAY YOU USE THOSE GIFTS THAT YOU HAVE RECEIVED, AND PASS ON THE LOVE
THAT HAS BEEN GIVEN TO YOU.....
MAY YOU BE CONTENT KNOWING YOU ARE A CHILD OF GOD
LET THIS PRESENCE SETTLE INTO OUR
BONES,
IT IS THERE FOR EACH AND EVERY ONE OF YOU.....

I believe he used to be a former dean of admissions at my school (Stonehill College). I never knew him personally, but his impact on the campus here is powerful. He was the first contact of so many former students and it was his kindness that comforted them. I know he is in a wonderful place.

There will be a Memorial Mass for (Fr.) Francis Grogan, C.S.C. at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 18th at Holy Cross Church in 225 Purchase Street, Easton, Massachusetts.

Fr. Grogan served in our parish for one year while our pastor was on sabbatical. He was a kind, gentle, and friendly man of God. He was a wonderful storyteller and a priest who saw his ministry as one of service. I will pray for his Holy Cross brothers and his family and many, many friend who will miss him. Somehow I don't feel he needs prayer - I believe he is now with the Lord continuing his life of love & joy. He will be missed by many!!!

I did not know Fr. Grogan, but the loss of a life in such a way is so devastating. I pass on my prayer to all of you: Father, help me to find peace and give me the gift of forgivness for those men that murdered Your servant and Your children. As our Lord said as He was dieing "Forgive them Father, for they know not what they do" From the little bit I learned in the memories written above, I think Fr. Grogan is saying the same prayer.

He sought Christ, he found Christ, he loved Christ. That's how we ought to remember him.

May he enjoy the peace of Our Lord Jesus Christ as he looks down upon us and prays for all.

Our parish (St. Stan's, Fall River, MA) held a memorial service for Fr. Grogan last Wednesday evening. Every seat in our church was taken! The ushers had to bring in folding chairs. That should tell you how much we were touched & influenced by him in the short time he was at our parish. One of the things most often mentioned about him was his infectious smile. One youth group member said that they saw Jesus' smile in the smile of Fr. Grogan. May he continue to smile on all of us from heaven and may we all learn the "power" of a sincere and Christ-filled smile!!
And may we use that "power" (of a smile) to help bring comfort and healing to all in these trying times. Thank you, Fr. Grogan. We could truly see the face of Christ in you.
