Outer Banks, North Carolina
The barrier islands off the coast of North Carolina offer uncrowded, family-friendly beaches and other attractions. Explore the dunes at Kitty Hawk where the Wright Brothers made aviation history. Visit one of the area’s lighthouses or the aquarium and Festival Park on Roanoke Island. Stroll along the scenic boardwalk in Duck, then treat everyone to ice cream or donuts. You’ll also find many museums, restaurants, shops, mini golf and laser tag. Spend time on the water by taking a ferry ride, sailing, or renting a kayak, canoe or jet skis. If you have more time, head to Myrtle Beach which is a more crowded but also very family-friendly.
