Don’t hold back
Focus forward and hold nothing back. Years ago, I found myself standing on a steep mountain slope with Jim Hunter, the Canadian Olympic downhill ski champion, and an extreme sportsman. I asked how he could throw himself at speeds faster than a car on the freeway down an iced mountain. He said, “I focus on the finish, then ski with reckless abandon.” Some men have the courage to move forward with reckless abandon but don’t, only because they lack focus. Taking the first step is always the first step. But once you’re in motion, focus is the key to finishing. What captures and holds your attention will eventually control the direction of your life.
