Why are so many people giving up traditional brick-and-mortar schools for home education? The parent-led home-based education started a decade ago and continues to succeed with parents and kids as well. There are an estimated 3.4 million children who have been homeschooled for at least a year during their K-12 years, the national Home Education Research Institute on Homeschooling reported. Children who were homeschooled scored higher than kids that attended public school, and attended college at a quicker rate than the general population. Radio talk show host Sam Sorbo explained that she is not surprised by the statistics, as the public school system is flawed and secular.
