Why Shells are Not for Humans
The soft parts that we are protecting, unfortunately, are our fears and insecurities that we created in our minds. The perceived insults and injuries from others are not threats to our body - we are not in any physical danger - so why do we cling to our hypersensitive psyches? We don't want anything to happen that would disturb our shells. We don't want to take any chances for our hearts to get hurt. We go out of our way to protect ourselves. So the heart closes up more and more, the energy that goes in and out of our bodies gets weaker and weaker, and the shells we build get heavier and heavier to the point that even breathing becomes difficult.
