When Three Angels Found Me in a Dark Theater
It was spring 1986 and I was in college. I had spent the previous semester helping the drama department with a play. I was elected as set designer for the spring and I went into the theater to get some last-minute measurements. I mounted the stage with great flourish, after flinging the double doors open. The doors shut and I realized there was no light at all in the theater. I moved towards the light panel and "felt" something in front of me. I took one step to the left that took me 20 feet down to the concrete floor of the orchestra pit. As I tried unsuccessfully to move, I realized I was bleeding and I probably had a broken leg.
No one knew where I was; this was long before cell phones. I yelled for help and after three minutes, I could see myself in the dark lying on the floor. I knew I only had one more shot. I told God that if he would send an angel to help me, I would spend my life telling this story. After my next cry for help, the doors swung open and three students said they thought they had heard a child crying. 23 years and a hip replacement later, and I have never stopped spreading God’s glory.
