Raising the Bar

“For this very reason, make every effort to supplement your faith with virtue, and virtue with knowledge, and knowledge with self-control, and self-control with steadfastness, and steadfastness with godliness, and godliness with brotherly affection, and brotherly affection with love. For if these qualities are yours and are increasing, they keep you from being ineffective or unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ” (2 Peter 1:5–8 ESV).

Christianity is not a competitive sport but it certainly takes endurance, and God’s bar is always raised above what everyone else expects. God wants us to live up to His bar, no matter how high it may seem, because He will aid us in the process.

Living for God is not about sprinting to a destination, but speed walking with Him. May you recognize the areas of your life that God wishes to raise up to His standard.
