Heaven is Closer than You Think
How awesome is this place! This is none other than the house of God and this is the gate of heaven. (Genesis 28:17)
Five hundred years ago, the English Bible translator William Tyndale said, “We are in eternal life already.” It wasn’t mere optimism. It wasn’t poetry or misinformed theology. He actually meant it. And with good reason. Eternity has no limits, no borders. It has no bounds—time, place, or otherwise. We can say the same of heaven itself. We don’t have to think of it as on one side of some great divide. Jesus said, “Where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them.” (Matthew 18:20) Christ is our paradise, the heaven we may enjoy here and now.
